Written by: Staff Reports

Friends of theater director Keith Powell Beyland will host readings of the plays that Beyland hoped to produce this season.

Beyland, founder and artistic director of Dramatic Repertory Company, had a stroke in late September and is receiving care at New England Rehabilitation Hospital in Portland.

DRC’s season was scheduled to open this weekend at the studio theater at Portland Stage. Instead, acting friends will host readings beginning Thursday at the Portland Stage studio theater. Admission is free, and donations will be collected. There’s also a silent auction before each reading.

The lineup and participating actors include:

“Quills,” 7:30 p.m. Thursday: Peter Brown, Corey Gagne, Robbie Harrison, Mnemosyne Heileman, Janice O’Rourke and Andrew Sawyer

“Venus in Fur,” 7:30 p.m. Friday: Matthew Delamater and Casey Turner

“Cock,” 7:30 p.m. Saturday: Ian Carlsen, James Herrera, Andrew Sawyer and Marjolaine Whittlesey
