Portland Pride Parade

Written by: Amy Paradysz - Contributor - amyparadysz@gmail.com

Portland’s most colorful day of the year, the Pride Parade, was a bigger-than-ever celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and allied community. Parade participants included public and private schools and homeschoolers, people of various faiths and political persuasions, contra dancers and yogis and singers, college and university students, members of a retirement community, members of various LGBTQA organizations and workers at health care organizations, banks, insurance companies, coffee shops, grocery stores, phone companies and a burrito shop. The parade concludes with an enormous rainbow flag being carried from Monument Square to Deering Oaks Park.
