Despite the fog, it's a peachy KEANE day in Portland

Happy damp and foggy Wednesday, music fans. I just got back to my desk from a lunchtime stroll.

I had a pretty good idea of what I was doing tonight, but any doubt was sealed after my walk.

First I popped down to Bull Moose Music and perused new releases and such. That’s where I saw my first one. It looked a little something like this:

No sooner did I get back outside to Middle Street then I see this one:

And then hunger kicked in. En route to Otto Pizza while zipping through Monument Square I saw this:

And finally, because I wanted to burn off 37 calories from my pizza, I walked a little further up the road, passed a massive tour bus and stood outside 609 Congress St. where this was prominently displayed.

YEP. I’m going to see British alternative  rock band Keane tonight at The State Theatre

It’s been almost six years since they last played our city. Last time it was in support of their “Under the Iron Sea” album. I was at that show and it was terrific.

Since they Keane’s released “Perfect Symmetry” and most recently “Strangeland” last May.

I consider myself a solid Keane fan. But not compared to my New York City friend Maayan Schneider who is hardcore. She’s seeing them tomorrow night in the Big Apple. I am certain the band will still be on a post-Portland high. I dropped her a “Hey Maayan what’s your favorite Keane song?” note and she responded so fast it was as if she had been shot out of a cannon. Her favorite Keane song is the first one she ever heard, “Somewhere Only We Know.” And why not? It’s gorgeous.

Maayan is also quite partial to a Keane b-side track called “Let It Slide.” I totally get it. Killer song.

Keane. Tonight. 8 p.m State Theatre. $35

See you there?
