Dead Gowns “Lyon” Video Premiere!

Written by: Aimsel Ponti

Geneviève Beaudoin of Dead Gowns. Video still by Alexandra Morrow & Jack Rohner

Last year, the Portland-based trio Dead Gowns released the gorgeous five song EP “New Spine.”

One of the songs on “New Spine” is the track “Lyon.” The band decided to re-imagine the song, stripping it way down to just voice and piano with a stunning video to go with it, directed by Alexandra Morrow.

Dead Gowns is singer/guitarist Geneviève Beaudoin, guitarist/vocalist Luke Kalloch and drummer Ivan Drangus.

Beaudoin said this about the new version of “Lyon” and its brand new video.

“I imagine the song like a plant in the window, flexing its stem towards the light. ‘Lyon’ necessarily changed with the seasons. It’s a piano ballad, stripped down and steadied into a meditation  — and accompanied by a beautiful live video directed by our friend, Alexandra Morrow. We love it… mainly because it features a little cameo from our dog, Dad, and I was able to play my grandmother’s piano.”

And now…making its world premiere, here’s the video for “Lyon (alt. version). Enjoy!
