PSO channels Duke, Count and friends for Pops show on Sunday

Pianist Rich Ridenour joins the Portland Symphony Orchestra for weekend Pops concerts that will feature music from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Spike Jones and other big band tunes from the 1930s and ’40s. Ridenour arranged many of the pieces for orchestra and piano. He will be joined by vocalist Kathy Gibson.

PSO Assistant Conductor Norman Huynh will lead the concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Merrill Auditorium. Tickets range from $25 to $75 and are available through PortTIX; 207-842-0800 or
