Rejuvenating skincare, crafted in Maine

When Heidi Martin was headed upta camp, she whipped out her bottle of deet and before she could douse herself, her Dad stopped her and told her it wasn’t going with them. “You can do better,” he said. Inspired by her Father’s commitment to living organically, Heidi began researching how to make organic bug repellant and began cold calling chemists that specialized in natural and organic skincare. They took time out to talk to her about bases, oils and different combinations that would help her create a natural repellant against bugs and ticks.

“My first product was our Organic Citrus/Cedar/Sage Soap Bar. It was tested by ten random people who walked their dogs and walked in the woods for months. They found no ticks!” says Heidi. Today her line boasts over 40 organic, all-natural products.

And what does this whole “organic” term mean when it comes to skincare anyways? It’s always hard to know, but Heidi lists all the ingredients on her products and gives an organic percentage too – some of her products are 97% organic! I’ve been using the Organic Cucumber Facial Cream and Toner over the past two weeks and I am smitten. The facial cream moisturizes my face and neck without leaving it feeling greasy. The cucumber has a calming effect on my skin too, which has been such a welcome reprieve from the harsh dry patches that February has left behind.

I am addicted to slathering myself with lotion when I hop out of the shower and it does a body good. The combination of both shea and cocoa butter in her body butter formula sinks right into my skin.
