My Mother got married in September of 1976 and she sewed her own dress. Until last weekend, I had only seen it in pictures. But since I’m newly engaged (I promise this won’t turn into a wedding blog. PROMISE!) she thought it’d be fun if we took out the dress so I could try it on. The dress was a two-piece ensemble. A pretty chiffon, simple white dress and then a really beautiful long-sleeve top that she wore over it. It even had a drawstring so it could cinch nicely at the waist. Well done, Debbie Serino! Well done!
My Mom is going to kill me for putting these photos up for the world to see (especially since this dress is a LITTLE BIT see-through) but since I won’t be wearing it, this doesn’t count as bad luck, right? RIGHT?! Oh and naturally the little show-off tried her dress on again too. And yes. It still fits her.
I’d love to know, did you wear an heirloom dress at your wedding? Or a vintage, pre-worn dress? Share your wedding dress story below. I’d love to hear!
