Emily Robertson, founder of Mprint Jewelry, loves the word “wanderlust”. She uses it to describe her new summer collection, inspired by travel and the feeling someone gets when they set off on a new journey. It seems Robertson, a Presque Isle native, was bitten by the travel bug early one. She’s lived in Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and even Sasketchewan. It wasn’t until she settled back in her home state that she felt inspired to create her own line.
Though Robertson finds inspiration in everything from heirloom pieces to runway collection, her latest travel-inspired line showcases four different coins from Canada, Spain, Honolulu and the Netherlands. “I want each person who wears one of the coin pieces to feel like they are connected to where it is from,” she says.
Robertson has drawn from her past experiences to bring expertise and business savvy to her line. Before launching Mprint, she worked for Macy’s and Bebe’s and studied business at UMaine and merchandising at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
When she isn’t working on her line, she’s enjoying all there is to offer now that she’s back in Maine, including hanging out at her favorite spots like Higgins Beach and Sugarloaf. She’s also rediscovering new favorite shopping places like Material Objects for “unreal vintage fashion and shoes”.
