10 under $10: local gift ideas for her

Whether you’re on the hunt for some stocking stuffers, a crowd-pleasing yankee swap item or you’re just shopping on a strict budget this year – it’s absolutely still possible to shop small. After checking out the local talent this past weekend at MECA, Picnic and doing some digging on my own, I’ve found 10 great gift ideas for the ladies on your list, all for under $10. Here’s what you need to tuck under the tree.

Handmade Vintage Fabric Bow, $4.50
Bow Clips from Lucille’s crafted from vintage fabric. Lucille’s has an etsy shop but they also sell at the Flea-for-All. I’ve also been eyeing some of their vintage dresses for holiday parties, in case you’re also in the market for one of those!

Vegan Soap, $6.50
I’ve used soap from Rocky Top before and I’m telling you, they are worth every penny. I’d take a gamble on any scent but for those more finicky people on your list, the “simple” unscented is a surefire win.

Sterling silver ring, $9
A super delicate ring by Portland designer Fluxed. I spotted this on a local barista and was beside myself when I found out the price. At this price, buy them in bulk and stack them.

Hankies, $6
I spotted Longstocking Design at the MECA Fair. Her quirky pill pillows made me laugh and these hankies are the perfect gift to fight the sniffles away this winter.

Soy Candle, $5
One might argue that candles are a dull gift. But when they’re handmade with pure soy wax in scents like Flapjacks and Maple Syrup, can one really go wrong?

Petite mums earrings, $9.50
Sweet and sunshiney – just like the gal you’d give them to.

Glitter Nail Polish, $9
Made in Maine, cheaper than a manicure and 20% of the proceeds go to a local animal shelter. The only question now is which color.

Potholder, $10
For your favorite food friend. Just make sure it comes with some baked goods.

Tree Ornament, $10
I purchased one of these for myself at Picnic. These are a major step up from the ones I used to make as a kid.
