Results! Maine Madness Beer Tournament: Elite 8

I wonder if any of you out there in internet land were refreshing the Sweet 16 voting page as often as I was to get up-to-date numbers. Confession: I did it a lot.

There were a couple of races that had me on the edge of my seat. The first was last year’s winner Maine Island Trail Ale v. Dinner. MITA squeaked out a seven vote victory. Though I think Rising Tide’s session IPA was helped out by the folks at the Maine Island Trail Association, a win’s a win.

The other close battle was between Maine Beer Company’s Peeper and Austin Street Brewery’s Patina Pale. They’re very similar American ales, so much so, in fact, that Austin Street tweeted, “Patina was inspired greatly by @mainebeerco Peeper, and now they’re matched up.” When the votes were cast and the dust settled, Patina took down its mentor.

In today’s Elite 8, all of the match-ups seem like giants fighting giants. It will be interesting to watch Rising Tide’s MITA and Daymark duke it out. Good luck choosing between these Maine beer gems! (Check out the complete results from the Sweet Sixteen round.)

Note: Voting for the Elite 8 has now closed.
