Lakewood Theater in Madison has been presenting shows since 1901 on the western shore of Wesserunsett Lake. The season runs from late May to mid-September and includes musicals, dramas, comedies and shows for kids. On a historical note, the theater’s first life was as an Indian campground, then it became an amusement park until a gent named Herbert L. Swett took the reins with a different vision. “The Private Secretary” was its first play, back in June in 1901. If those old walls could talk, the stories they could tell.
