Own the pool this spring: Take a synchronized swimming class in Portland

Portland Recreation is offering an adult synchronized swimming class on Thursday evenings at Riverton pool, starting April 30.

While it is getting warmer outside, it’s still not exactly the season we associate with bathing suits and flowered swim caps. But we should.

That barely melted snow can linger as long as it’d like (but not too long, please!), because we’ve got indoor pools and synchronized swimming classes, thank you very much!

Portland Recreation is offering an adult synchronized swimming class on Thursday evenings at Riverton pool, starting on April 30.

Not only will you learn some impressive synchronized swimming moves like the water wheel, the oyster, and the eggbeater, you’ll also have the pleasure of pulling on a floral swim cap and water dancing to popular music as though it were a mid-July pool party.

You’ll also learn that those who know say “synchro.”

And after eight glorious weeks, you’ll be ready to show the world what you’re made of. And it might look something like this video from the class last year:

The upcoming session of Adult Synchronized Swimming is at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays from April 30 to June 11at Riverton pool in Portland. Cost is $57.75. FMI: portlandrec.com
