December’s 10 best after-work winter outings (Give-aways, great deals and more fun!)

Enjoy the outdoors without spending all your hard-earned money with Maine Days, discounted night skiing and other upcoming special events.

1. Tubing at Mt. Abram

Experience the longest snow tubing in Maine! With 1325-foot lanes, it’ll be pump-worthy, even for the adults!
Every Friday and Saturday until 7 p.m. | $15 |

2. Ice skating at Falmouth Ice Center

Come outdoors and skate on an iced-over pond under the evening sky.
Every Saturday 5pm-6PM | $5 (rentals, $2) |

3. Night skiing at Shawnee Peak

Head out under the lights to Shawnee Peak—Offering the most night skiing in Maine! Get your runs in and then head down to Blizzard Pub at the bottom of the hill.
Tuesday-Thursday until 8PM  ($25) and Friday until 10PM ($32) |

4. Maine Days skiing at Sugarloaf

Maine Days are here! Midweek you can ski or ride for cheap! Yeah, it’s humpday, but everyone gets sick days (or for those honest folks out there – vacation days!). With a discount of $40 off regularly-priced lift tickets – it’s a steal!

5. $5 night skiing at Sunday River

Kick off the night-skiing season at Sunday River. For less than the price of a foot long sandwich, you can enjoy four full hours of carving through evening powder.

6 and 7. Maine Day skiing at Sunday River or Sugarloaf (Pick your mountain!)

Sunday River: Make your way up to Bethel and ski/snowboard all day for a $29 lift ticket! If you don’t have your own equipment,  $20 rental or a $29 Learn to Ski/Ride Packages.
Sugarloaf: Same $29 lift ticket deal or grab a lift ticket, $20 rental, or a $39! ski/ride package (with ticket and rental).

8. Mt. Abram Ski Club Gritty’s Mug Night

Come hang out with Mt. Abram for raffles, give-aways and of course, cold beer. This event is being held at all Gritty’s locations (Portland, Freeport and Auburn) and hopefully walk away with an armload of awesome gear!

10. Polar Bear Dip & Dash

Choose a 5K or a Polar Plunge! So you’ve done Tough Mudder (or other adrenaline-filled races), well not much else compares to either running or plunging in the freezing cold. Pull your big boy/girl pants on, invite your friends and support the fund to fight global warming (No, really, this is for Charity – learn more at the link above).
