What Did Santa Bring You For Christmas? | The most popular gifts for social media addicts

So, when you woke up on Christmas morning, what had Santa left for you under the tree? I was curious to find out what types of gifts my fellow social media addicts had received. So, I did a little research to find out what the most popular gifts were this year. Enquiring minds want to know, right? There were no big surprises. For me anyway. But, it was still fun to see what social media fans everywhere were likely to have found in their stockings or under the tree.

It came as no surprise to find out that gift cards and cold, hard cash were the two most popular gifts for social media fans everywhere. I was very fortunate to receive the gift of dollars, but no gift cards! However, it’s not too late. Anyone who would like to give me a gift card/certificate should visit the good people at ASOS, Seawall, or Barneys—just to give you a wide pricing range to work with. Disregarding my selfish personal preferences, Starbucks, iTunes, and Target were the most widely requested gift cards – even more so than Visa and American Express which can be used for a variety of different types of purchases (including Starbucks, iTunes, and Target). –

Following close behind at #3, social media addicts craved the iPhone 5s. No surprises here. What self-respecting social media junky wouldn’t want the latest in smartphone technology? I’m willing to bet that there were also quite a few of you out there who’s Christmas wish would have been satisfied with a new iPad Air or iPad mini with Retina display. Am I wrong?

For some reason, to my complete disbelief, Nike and Ugg were the two most requested apparel brands and Justin Beiber, “Believe” were the most sought after tickets in the social media universe. I’m sure there are a bunch of readers out there who will have my head for not understanding why these gifts were so popular. But, I just don’t. So, there. Call me old.

For more info on the most popular gifts, see the infographic below.

I’d love to hear about both your favorite gift(s) and the gifts that you wished for but still have yet to receive. And, please tell me why. I’m dying to know. Leave your thoughts here in the comments section or send them to me on Twitter at @bobbbyg.

Between you and me, I had a gift that I really wanted but did not receive. This would be a light therapy box to help me fight a raging case of Seasonal Affective Disorder. So, let’s hope I can find one on my own in the next week or you’re going to be listening to a very grouchy person until the clocks spring forward in March. Needless to say, I’m not a huge fan of winter. With that said, the holiday season brings me a lot of cheer.

Here’s to 2014!
