Whale Oil classes things up with an acoustic set at Sonny's tonight

It just seems so appropriate that I really start to get into the swing of things by Thursday this week, right as the weekend lurks closer and closer, I finally get myself together. Geezum. Anyway Happy Thursday to each and every one of you; I’m cutting straight to the chase today, so let’s do it to it!

Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies bring the party downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland this evening. Tonight these fellas play the very best rockabilly and honky-tonk songs you could ever shake your buns to, so if you’re kicking about this thirsty Thursday check out their high energy show, which gets underway, free-of-charge, right around 7:30 tonight.

Down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland Hot Club Du Monde bright their stringed gypsy-jazz to life starting right around 8 o’clock. Tonight’s show is free and sure to be swinging to check it out if you’re hanging around the Old Port tonight.

Up at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland you can treat yourself to some cool grooves and tasty acoustic country blues courtesy of the Southbound Outlaws. The fellas will get things going right around 8pm tonight.

Flask Lounge in Portland invites thirsty Thursday goers to enjoy some free, live indie rock tonight. Check out sets from The Gantry with special guests Blue Veins starting right around 8 o’clock.

If you’re waaay up north this evening, then check out a show chock full of Americana and folk tunes at the Eureka Hall Restaurant in Stockholm with the fellas of Gunther Brown. Things get underway around 8 o’clock tonight so if you’re hanging in The County be sure to stop by and check it out.

How about a little rhymes and rhythm for a weekend warm up? Then be sure to head down to Iron Tails Saloon in Acton for a night of hip-hop courtesy of Click North and Ryan Augustus.  Things get jumping right around 8:30 tonight.

Mellow your mind tonight and bust some sweet moves tonight down at The Big Easy in Portland for another fun time with the one and only Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these fellas will jam out on everything from the Allman Brothers, Phish, The Band and more. Anticipate good times, good people, and maybe even a few hula-hoops starting right around 9:30.

North of Nashville will be rocking their weekly gig over at Brian Boru right around 9:30pm and won’t stop the party until last call. Jay and Andrew bring their love all of all things twang to life this evening with a free show upstairs that’s always a ton of fun.

Portland garage rockers Whale Oil will be providing the sounds to your Thursday night at Sonny’s in the Old Port this evening. This special acoustic set gets cranking right around 10 o’clock for free, so stop on by and check it out.
