Work it out this Wednesday down at the El Rayo patio in Portland where classic Cuban music makers Primo Cubano will be playing their regular Wednesday evening gig outside in the sunshine. Tonight’s free, all ages outdoor show gets underway at 6 o’clock.
Another great way to spend your Wednesday evening is out on the deck of Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street in downtown Portland where the fellas in local act Vinyl Tap will be pumping out some classic cover tunes for your listening pleasure. This free event gets started right around 6 and is all ages.
Local soulful songstress Monique Barrett will be joined by her friend and fellow musician Mike Beam for a dinner time show at Gather in Yarmouth this Wednesday evening. Starting at 6:30 the duo invites one and all to enjoy some delicious food and terrific live music at this free event.
Guitarist, singer-songwriter and all around great guy, Dave Jacquet of local acoustic duo Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting a free open mic night up at Cole Farms in Gray starting at 7 o’clock this Wednesday evening. Dave welcomes all musicians to join in on the fun and take to the stage and jam out with himself and a few of his friends at tonight’s cover-free, all-ages event.
Rising pop star and former participant on NBC’s The Voice Melanie Martinez will be live on stage at Port City Music Hall in Portland this Wednesday. Folk-pop act Dresses and pop-rocker Mike Squillante will kick this all-ages show off right around 7 o’clock.
MJ’s Wine Bar at One City Center in Portland welcomes local musicians Kyle Friday and Hannah Kramer to their unique space to perform a live two-hour set of jazz and R&B tunes beginning at 7. This free event will feature Hannah on vocals with Kyle laying it down on the keys.
Starting at 8 o’clock Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port welcomes back local duo the Squid Jiggers for another fun mid-week evening of folk tunes. These two talented gents will be creating sounds that pair perfectly with an ice cold pint of beer, so swing on by and check them out if you’re in the downtown area tonight.
The Frog and Turtle in Westbrook welcomes Ron Gill of local blues act Poke Chop and The Other White Meats back to the stage for a free, blues-based open mic night. The party starts right around 8 and there’s never ever a cover charge.
If you’re looking for some down home, acoustic roots music this Wednesday, then be sure to make your way down to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland as local act David Beam and The Custom House Gang will be playing a free show beginning at 8 o’clock.
If you missed California-based roots collective The Dustbowl Revival when they were in Portland last evening, you get another chance to check out this talented troupe as they perform live at The Press Room in Portsmouth this evening. The band merges old school bluegrass, gospel, jug-band, swamp blues and the hot swing of the 1930’s to form a spicy roots cocktail. Check ‘em out if you’re in the Seacoast area as things get underway around 9 o’clock.
Flask Lounge in Portland is offering up a free night full of awesome music as they welcome Brooklyn noise pop/psych punk trio Unicycle Loves You to the stage alongside Portland’s own progressive indie rock act First In Maths. The party starts at 9 o’clock, so be sure to check things out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening.
Rap Night at The Asylum in Portland welcomes Vinyl Cape, the brainchild of road-tested experimental hip-hop vocalist BRZOWSKI, hyper-prolific producer C Money Burns, and CT’s turntable extraordinaire Mo Niklz, to the stage for this week’s hip-hop party. Vinyl Cape blends hip-hop, doom, metal, Goth aesthetics and an outlaw attitude for a performance that is sure to entertain and enthrall. Underground NYC act Uncommon Nasa and DJ Samurai Banana will also be rounding out tonight’s bill. Things get underway at 9 o’clock with early and late open mic cyphers, so don’t miss out!
The Clash of the Titans continues tonight at the Empire on Congress Street with a rescheduled battle between two eclectic, bad ass babes as Cyndi Lauper goes head-to-head with Kate Bush for this week’s engagement. A ton of local talent will come together to pay tribute to each of these talented women as things get underway right around 9:30.
