The Pubcrawlers, Jason Spooner Band and more take over Brian Boru for St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Monday is a truly marvelous thing because you can’t get bogged down with a case of the Mondays when Irish eyes are smilin’ on ya! If you’re looking to celebrate today by downing some green beer and checking out some tunes, here are the happenings for your St. Paddy’s Day.

Brian Boru in Portland is always the place to be on such a holiday and today they’ve got music all day with Sean Sheerins, The Pubcrawlers, Jason Spooner Band, and Captain Ray & The Castaways as well as appearances by the Main Guns & Hose Drum Corps, the Stillson School Irish Stepdancers and more. Things get started at 6am, yes, 6am. The Pubcrawlers will be causing a ruckus started at 1pm followed by Jason Spooner Band and Captain Ray & The Castaways.

The Dapper Gents will be getting in on the St. Paddy’s Day action upstairs at Bull Feeney’s where they’ll be rocking out some fun folk-pop starting at 6 o’clock. The fellas will playing straight through until 9, so grab some pals and enjoy some tunes at this evening’s free event.

The fellas of North of Nashville will be rocking down at RiRa on Commercial Street starting right around 6 o’clock and they won’t stop the party until last call – seriously. That’s a lot of pickin’, guitar slingin’, singin’ and boot stompin’ for your St. Patrick’s Day! Jay and Andrew bring their love all of all things twang to life this evening with a free show that’s always a ton of fun, so swing through and check it out at some point this evening.

Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston welcomes local pop-rock musician Michael Krapovicky to the stage this evening to host another of his weekly acoustic open mic nights. This evening’s event gets started at 6:30 and is absolutely free, so swing through and sing a song or two if you’re in the area this Monday.

Each and every Monday night MJ’s Wine Bar, located at One City Center in downtown Portland, hosts a jazz, funk and soul night that’s open to all players and listeners in the area. Bass, drums, guitar and keys are provided, all ya gotta do is show up and bring your horns and voices. The house band, which consists of such talented cats as Kyle Friday, Jacob Cooley, Tony Palumbo, and James Finison always welcome other players to take the stage and jam with them. The event itself is free and tons of fun so check things out as the evening gets underway right around 7 o’clock.

A great open mic will be happening down at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco this tonight where both solo musicians and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and do their thing in front of a live audience as things get shakin’ right around 7:30.

Enjoy some of the best pizza in town whilst taking in some of the best local bluegrass down at Otto on Congress Street in Portland this evening. Bluegrass picker, Joe Walsh and a handful of his talented, musically-inclined friends will be providing some terrific entertainment for your Monday with a free show that gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Up in Naples tonight, Gorilla Finger Dub Band will be pumping out the live roots, reggae, and dub-step jams at Bray’s Brew Pub. These fellas come together right around 8 to provide some extremely danceable party music for anyone who loves and appreciates all things reggae and dub.

And if you didn’t get rowdy enough with The Pubcrawlers over at Brian Boru’s then you can do some damage with the gang down at Amigo’s as they gear up for their second gig of the day starting at 9 o’clock.

Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge welcomes a troupe of talented dudes to the stage to provide the soundtrack to your St. Patrick’s Day shenanigans. Starting at 9 you can check out sets from local roots, folk and alt-country rockers Joe Gallant, Will Mallett and Jim Betts.

Downstairs starting at 9 o’clock join Dave Rowe of The Squid Jiggers for an Irish Sing-a-long while upstairs Hello Newman will be rockin’ the party with their 90s alternative jams beginning right around 10 o’clock.
