The Psychedelic Furs return to Portland with special guests Sunset Hearts at Port City Music Hall

All right! The week rolls on and tonight means business. Suit up in those trusty Party Pants and get ready to get down to some sweet, lively sounds courtesy of Wednesday night!

Shanna Underwood and cellist Devon Colella will be performing an Americana influenced set at Gather in Yarmouth this Wednesday. Beginning at 6 o’clock Underwood and Colella invite you to take in some mellow musical sounds during this great dinnertime set

Season 8 of Bentley’s Saloon in Arundel’s open mic night kicks off this Wednesday evening with your hosts Ali and Nat Bailey and the Open Mic Night Band. All musicians are welcome to join in the fun and showcase some songs this evening as things get underway around 7 o’clock.

Join Standard Issue at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland as they celebrate their 2nd anniversary as one of the local scene’s best jazz acts with a free show that gets underway around 7. The band has now played over one hundred gigs together and are happy to announce the addition of Emma Stanley on trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals. Swing through, enjoy a cocktail and take in some of the best Golden Era tunes at this band’s birthday bash at Gingko Blue.

Uke n’ Smile’s Dave Jacquet will be hosting another free open mic night up at Cole Farms in Gray this Wednesday. Grab your acoustic guitar and get ready to jam tonight as things get underway at 7:30.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port the Squid Jiggers return to the stage with their own brand of folk music that’s basically some good ol’ fashioned drinking music! Check things out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening as tonight’s free show gets started around 8 o’clock.

If you’re looking for some open mic action in Portland tonight head down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge over on Preble Street right around 8 o’clock for their open mic night series featuring host and local musician Nick Poulin. Tonight’s free event is a great place to play some new tunes or take in some new sounds from local talent.

English rockers The Psychedelic Furs return to Portland tonight for a show at Port City Music Hall. These dudes have been doing their thing since the late 70s and were one of many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene. They put on a solid show, so be sure to check things out as local act Sunset Hearts kick things into high gear with an opening set right around 8 o’clock.

Frontier in Brunswick’s Live in the Lounge music series continues tonight as they welcome one and all to join them for an evening of relaxation and entertainment that is certain to make the most out of your mid-week. Tonight they welcome back local producer and DJ Mosart212 for some of his improvised sets that feature a blend of original tracks, dusty samples and rare gems. Music ranges from classic, funky, downright wonky and everything in between so check things out as they get underway at 8 this Wednesday.

Portland, Oregon based, indie-folk band, Run On Sentence continues their mini Maine tour tonight with a show at The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford. Folk country blues artist Jonah Tolchin and local psych-folk act Old Soul will be rounding out this Wednesday’s bill as the music starts at 8. 

Even more open mic action will be taking place at the Frog and Turtle in Westbrook tonight as local rockabilly artist Pete Witham will be hosting another free open mic night event. Starting at 8 you can sign up to play some tunes and even check out Pete and his pals as they perform throughout the course of the evening.

Get down to The Asylum in Portland this Wednesday for another edition of Rap Night where some of the scene’s best hip-hop artists will be holding it down alongside a special showcase from NYC’s Prem Rock. Every Wednesday Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra team up to host this epic party that features the best of the best as well as early and late night open mic cyphers. Get ready to get down as things get jumping right around 9 tonight.

 

The Clash of the Titans this week is all about the divas as Whitney Houston takes on Mariah Carey upstairs at the Empire in Portland. Starting at 9:30 check out local sirens Amanda Tubbs and Lindsay Hamilton as they and their bands recreate some of the greatest female pop songs of the 80s and 90s.
