The Pressure Points pay tribute to Bob Marley and The Wailers

Well, I dealt with the rest of Monday’s misery the only way I know how: by housing an entire box of Mac n’ Cheese, downing some vodka sodas, and busting a move into Tuesday. I feel so much better and if you hit a rough patch at any point Monday, I hope you’re feeling better too. Tuesday seems to be shaping up quite nicely so hike up those Party Jorts and get on out there this evening!

Start your Tuesday off with some good people and good tunes out on the Portland Lobster Company deck over on Commercial Street where local rocker, Ryan Halliburton will be teaming up with some of his talented friends to play some upbeat rockers starting right around 6.

Get yourself downtown tonight where singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Zimmerman will be playing some of his urban-folk/indie-rock style jams at Blue Congress Street. Tonight’s free show gets underway right around 7 o’clock, so stop in and check it out.

More outdoor entertainment is happening down at El Rayo in Portland where the uniquely entertaining Maine Marimba Ensemble will be doing their thing outside on the patio starting right around 7. Tonight’s event is free as well as appropriate for all ages, so grab some friends and family and check it out.

Prepare to break one helluva sweat down at The Asylum in Portland as DJs Kurt Baker and Mark Curdo spin all of the best party tunes that have ever been recorded all night long! Every Tuesday you can find Mark and KB downstairs in the basement of The Asylum as they join rock n’ roll forces for Wild Thing, a serious dance party that features the finest garage rock, mod, wild soul, punk, new wave, surf, maximum R&B and more! It’s a dollar to get in and there are $1 beers and $3 well drinks to keep you good and hydrated as you hit the dance floor. Things get shaking right around 8:30 tonight, so stretch it out and then check it out!

Cover to Cover continues down at The Big Easy with some sweet, soulful reggae courtesy of local act The Pressure Points who’ll be taking on Bob Marley and The Wailers’ classic album Catch A Fire in its entirety tonight. There’s nothing quite like a little Marley in the summertime, so swing through starting at 9 as the fellas kick things off with a set of original tunes followed by the album from front to back.

Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic for DJs with their free dance party, which allows up and coming record spinners to take a chance and get up on the tables during the event. All you need to bring are your records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome. Tonight’s DJ open mic begins right around 9 o’clock, so check it out.

Show Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland what’s up by belting some tunes at this week’s free karaoke party with DJ Ponyfarm. Get ready to belt out all of your favorite 90s jams starting at 9.

Open mic night continues this Tuesday evening over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port with lead vocalist of The Dapper Gents, Jacob McCurdy. Tonight Jacob invites one and all to show off their stuff beginning 9:30. If you’ve really got some skills you might even find yourself with a paying gig at Bull Feeney’s, so grab your ax and get ready to bust it out tonight.

Otto on Congress Street in Portland invites one and all to check out their Cajun Music Series this evening as they welcome Acadian Aces to perform a set of tunes starting at 9:30. The Aces will be serving up Cajun/Acadian tunes for your Tuesday evening. Grab a slice, a pint and enjoy some tasty tuneage all night long.
