The power of rock compels you at this week's Clash of the Titans at Empire Dine & Dance!

Oh yes! Let’s address the fact that we’re already half way through the week and inching closer and closer to the freakin’ weekend, babies!  Let’s see what this Wednesday has whipped up for us this evening.

Local acoustic duo, Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting a new open mic event at the Frog & Turtle in Westbrook this evening. Beginning at 8 o’clock all reasonably capable musicians are more than welcome to play some tunes or you can come and sing and the fellas in Uke n’ Smile will play the music for you. It’s free, fun and yummy drinks and food are on hand as well, so if you’re in the area tonight, be sure to stop by and check it out.

With St. Paddy’s Day right around the corner you might as well get warmed up this Wednesday down at Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street in the Old Port where the Squid Jiggers will be playing their own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes. The fellas get the good times rollin’ right around 8 so swing on by and check ‘em out.

More open mic action for your Hump Day takes place over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland. Starting at 8 o’clock you can check out local musicians sing some songs or even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Hosted by local singer-songwriter, Dustin Saucier tonight’s event is absolutely free.

This week’s Clash of the Titans at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland is all about the rock as Queens of the Stone Age take on Black Sabbath for the Clash crown. I’m pretty sure things will probably get cranked to at least eleven this evening as members of Murcielago, 6gig, Clubber Lang and more take to the stage to pay tribute to these two heavy hitting acts. As usual, things get cranking right around 9 o’clock.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland presents yet another installment of Unknown Pleasures, a post-punk, synth-pop, new wave, goth-industrial throwdown dance party. The fun starts at 9 o’clock and is absolutely free so check it out.
