Make no ifs, ands, or buts about it, I do not prefer Mondays. Thankfully though there always seems to be a surplus of awesome shows to check out in and around town. So why not turn those Monday frowns upside down by getting out there and taking in some great live music? Here’s what’s on the agenda for tonight!
Lots and lots of metal to make your Monday more bad ass will be happening up at Club Texas in Auburn as the venue gears up for an entire day of some the best metal, hard rock, and alternative rock around with an all ages show starting at 2 o’clock this afternoon. The party runs throughout the evening and gets started with a Mushroomhead pre-party in the venue’s Pub Room with high-energy sets from Omega Click, Cover One Eye, Angel Slayer and Skrye. The party continues on the Main Stage starting at 6 as headliners Mushroomhead are supported on tonight’s bill by Alter The Tides, Culling The Herd, Brand New Day, Ascent To Power and Ill Nino.
Acoustic folk rocker Connor Garvey will be performing a free set of songs alongside a few of his friends tonight out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company on Commercial Street this Monday evening. Starting at 6 enjoy some of Connor’s indie soul and folk sounds at this free, all ages event.
Locally grown pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky will be up at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston once again this Monday evening as he hosts another free open mic event. Bring your instrument and play some tunes, or just sit back and take in the fantastic sounds of some local talent as things get underway right around 6:30 at tonight’s free event.
Local musical fun makers Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies take over the El Rayo patio in Portland this Monday with their own brand of twisted Americana and rockabilly. These fellas always know how to have a good time by playing some seriously awesome tunes so be certain to swing through and check ‘em out while you enjoy some delicious food and drinks as things get underway at this free show right around 7 o’clock.
Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street welcomes Fingers & Strings to the stage for some fine folkgrass this Monday. Kick up your heels and enjoy some stringed sounds as tonight’s free show gets underway right around 7 o’clock.
The Meg Perry Center on Exchange Street in the Old Port presents an all ages show chock full of some folk-pop, punk rock and more with live performances from Cottontail, Allison Apple, and He’s Lying, Kill Him starting at 7 o’clock this Monday.
The State Theatre in Portland will be getting pretty loud tonight with the fast paced, heavy, and crushing sounds of heavy rock act Asking Alexandria and special guests Miss May I and Upon A Burning Body. Tonight’s all ages show gets cranking right around 7pm.
More in the way of some open mic action will be taking place down at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco tonight. Beginning at 7:30 both solo artists and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and play some tunes as this free and fun event.
Get down on it this Monday with some explosive, high-energy funk, jazz, soul and R&B at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street as Portland’s own Nigel Hall returns to town with his five-piece act, The Nth Power for a night of serious soulful fun. Things get bumping right around 8:30 with Orgone headlining this super funky show, so swing through and check things out if you’re downtown this evening.
Take in some bustling bluegrass and enjoy a slice of some delicious Otto pizza down at the pizza place’s lower Congress Street location in Portland as local picker Joe Walsh teams up with some of his talented pals for a night of tunes. This free event gets underway right around 8 o’clock.
Some musical magic (or maybe mayhem, you never know with these guys…) will be happening at Slab on Preble Street in Portland this evening as Lyle Divinsky, Dominic Lavoie, Tony McNaboe and Adam Frederick team up for a night of tuneage. Tonight’s free show gets started right around 8 o’clock, so hang out with these talented fellas and have some fun.
And even more free Monday night music will be happening down at RiRa on Commercial Street in the Old Port where Evan Walsh will be hosting one of his very last open mic nights. Vio/Miré, the ever-changing songs project of Brendan Glasson, J.P.A. Falzone and Portland’s own Emily Dix Thomas and Dave Noyes, returns to SPACE Gallery in Portland to release their brand new record this Monday evening. Starting at 8:30 Vio/Miré will be joined in celebration of their new album with special performances from acoustic-pop act Death Vessel and vocally-driven folk pop Portland band Plains.
