The Mallett Brothers Band goes unplugged tonight at the St. Lawrence Arts Center

Slam some gummie vitamins, eat your Wheaties and do some stretches because tonight marks the beginning of the end…of 2012, silly. Tonight is the kick-off to one of the craziest weekends of the year so prime those Party Pants and let’s give this Friday the old one-two punch!

Mayo Street Arts in Portland invites one and all to check out an evening of eclectic local music. Beginning at 7 o’clock tonight Rural Ghosts, RSO, Cuss, and Nasty Negligee will take the stage for an evening of everything from jazz punk, progressive folk metal to spooky indie folk, psych/prog-rock and everything in between. It should be an interesting show with a little bit of everything for everyone, so check it out.

Northwoods roots rockers and rollers The Mallett Brothers Band tone things down a bit this evening with an all-acoustic performance at St. Lawrence Arts Center on Munjoy Hill in Portland. Tonight the fellas welcome fans of all ages to join them for this stripped down, intimate performance. Things get underway right around 7:30.

The Sublime tribute band known as Badfish returns to the stage of The State Theatre in Portland tonight where they’ll be joined by special reggae guest Mighty Mystic and Gorilla Finger Dub Band. The party starts right around 8 o’clock.

Over at One Longfellow Square two of Portland’s finest blues/roots musicians team up for a reunion double bill that gets underway right around 8. Tonight celebrate Moses Atwood’s return to Portland as he and special guest Samuel James perform tunes together. This should be one heck of a show, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the area this evening.

You can always check out some some soul courtesy of The ToneKings this Friday evening as Papa Phil Divinsky shows us all where offspring Lyle got all that talent from by fronting The ToneKings over at The Frog & Turtle in downtown Westbrook. The fun starts right around 8:30.

Some seriously talented solo musicians come together for an evening of music over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland this Friday. Starting at 8:30 you can check out a night full of loops, samples, spooky sounds, stirring soul and more as Sea Level, Lady Zen, and Joyce Anderson join forces to bring you some superior sounds.

Prepare yourself for a pop-punk party for the ages tonight as Steiner Street, Borderlines, Still Rings True and more take the stage of Empire Dine and Dance in Portland. Rocking and rolling commences upstairs right around 9 o’clock.

Brick City Media presents Downtown Sound tonight over at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland. It’s their bi-monthly party that brings you the very best in underground dance music and this time around they’ve got DJ Corbin playing her brand of electro and house music alongside resident DJ j.hjort and crazy visuals courtesy of The Psychologist. Tonight’s rager gets underway right around 9 and is completely free of charge.

Geno’s Rock Club in Portland will be getting down with some rockabilly and rootsy Americana jams courtesy of Sean Mencher and His Rhythm Kings as well as Dark Hollow Bottling Company. The good times start rolling right around 9.

If you’re in the Waterville area tonight, head over to Mainely Brews where prog-rock band The 220s will be playing.  The 220s take their influences from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to Radiohead and create something that is truly all their own, check ‘em out starting at 9 tonight.
