The Jason Spooner Band & Sam Chase rock the Inn on Peaks Island this Labor Day

Most of us have today off, so if you don’t have any Labor Day BBQ plans, here’s a bunch of great live music to take in today!

Hopefully Mother Nature will recognize that many of us have today day off and would like to enjoy the last bits of summer outside, sipping cocktails on a deck overlooking the ocean, while enjoying some tantalizing tunes courtesy of Lyle & Phil Divinsky. If the sun is shining and you’re looking for some soulful songs to help you settle into a carefree afternoon, then make your way down to Portland Lobster Company right around 12:30 this afternoon as Lyle, Phil and friends serve up some soulful and funky music during this free, all ages event.

If you don’t have any plans for Labor Day, you should consider taking the ferry across Casco Bay to Peaks Island for the 3rd Annual Shipyard Summer Ender Bender and Pig Roast at the Inn on Peaks. Entrance to this shindig is free and will feature tons of great food and brews, as well as live, local music all afternoon. Things get underway at 1 o’clock this afternoon with a solo set from singer-songwriter Sam Chase followed by a performance from Americana roots rockers the Jason Spooner Band.

Portland pop-rockers, the Pete Kilpatrick Band will be bringing their live act to the patio of Portland Lobster Company tonight. Enjoy some fresh air, cold drinks and good tunes with the fellas they kick your Friday night into gear right around 5.

Locally grown pop-rocker, Michael Krapovicky will be up at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston once again to host another free open mic event this evening. Bring your instrument and get ready to play some tunes, or simply sit back and relax as a talented group of local artists take to the stage starting right around 6:30.

More in the way of open mic action will be happening down at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco this Monday. Starting at 7:30 both solo artists and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and make some music at this free and fun event.

Take in some bustling bluegrass and enjoy a slice delicious Otto pizza at Otto’s lower Congress Street location as local picker Joe Walsh teams up with some of his musically inclined pals for a night of free music. Things get started up right around 8.

Some seriously good times and good tunes will be had out on the Slab patio in downtown Portland as local musical merrymakers Lyle Divinsky, Dominic Lavoie, Tony McNaboe and Adam Frederick come together for a night of free tuneage. Starting at 8, make some plans to swing through and enjoy some tasty Sicilian style pizza as these fellas serve up some wonderfully entertaining cover jams for your Labor Day.

The Portland Maine Soul Summit draws to a close with a fun Monday night party over at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland. Starting at 9, check out some magical musical soundscapes from Jack MF, Mr. Dereloid and Greg Silverchild during this free event.
