I’m having one of those weeks where I wish I could push the fast forward button and be done with it, but thankfully this slow crawl is inching us closer and closer to the weekend. We’re already halfway there, right? If you’re looking to take in some musical goodness to hurdle the hump, here’s what’s shakin’ this evening.

Local ladies, Pretty Girls Sing Soprano will be filling the space of Gather in Yarmouth with some lovely sounds right around dinnertime. Starting at 6:30 you can take in a free show from this talented act as they create clever and original harmonies. There are also lots of reasonably priced food items to enjoy at Gather, so if you’re in the area, be sure to stop through this Wednesday evening.

Work it out this Wednesday with a free show at Portland & Rochester Public House in Portland’s Bayside as The Dapper Gents get things going right around 7 o’clock with their fun blend of folk, pop and rock originals and covers. Guitarist and all around nice guy, Dave Jacquet, of local duo Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting another free open mic night up at Cole Farms in Gray this Wednesday. Starting right around 7 all musicians are welcome to join in on the fun and make some music on stage with Dave and a few of his friends as they share songs and stories all evening long.

Even more open mic action will be taking place down at the Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook tonight where local rockabilly legend, Pete Witham will be hosting this free event. Starting at 8 you can sign up to play some tunes as well as check out Pete and his pals as they perform throughout the evening.
