The Black Keys take on The White Stripes at this week’s Clash at Empire in Portland

What’s up, Wednesday?! I am pumped to see you and to hurdle this hump so that we can all glide into our weekend stride. Per usual, there’s a bunch of fun stuff to check out, so let’s do it to it, my babies!

Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Andi Fawcett – who you’ve probably seen kicking ass with such local acts as Doubting Gravity and Sly-Chi – will be going solo and acoustic tonight as she prepares to play a set of songs at Easy Day in South Portland starting at 6 o’clock. Andi will be singing some great original as well as some fun covers during tonight’s free, all ages event.

7-piece funk, rock and reggae collective, The Shakes will be working it out on the Portland Lobster Company deck in the Old Port this evening. Check out this one a kind act hailing from Hallowell that features some of the scene’s most ferociously funky players as they get your midweek party started right around 6 o’clock.

Enjoy some delicious local fare at Gather in Yarmouth as country and Americana artist Carleigh Nesbit prepares to play a free dinnertime show starting at 6:30 this Wednesday evening.

The Songwriters in the Round showcase returns to Frontier in Brunswick tonight with music from some of Maine’s most prolific musicians. Starting at 7, Lisa Redfern brings some talented local singer-songwriters together on stage for an intimate, unplugged performance of compelling songs and stories. Tonight’s season premier line up features Matt Newberg, Amy Kucharik, and Ryan Halliburton.

Chicago alternative rock act Chevelle will be taking to the stage of the historic State Theatre in downtown Portland this Wednesday. The band are currently on tour in support of their new record, La G?rgola. Cali rock n’ rollers Kyng and Dayshell will open things up as tonight’s show gets underway right around 7:30.

If you’re looking for some acoustic roots tunes to wind down with this Wednesday, make your way over to Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port where local act David Beam and The Custom House Gang will be playing some fun tunes starting at 8 o’clock.

The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook welcomes back local blues man Ron Gill for another blues-based open mic night. This free open mic-style party starts at 8 o’clock, so stop in and check things out if you’re in the area this Wednesday evening.

Over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port, local duo the Squid Jiggers return to the stage with their own brand of folk music that pairs perfectly with an ice cold pint. Check things out as tonight’s free show gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Local chanteuse Renee Coolbrith and talented keys player Jeff Chipman come together for a special live performance in the lounge of MJ’s Wine Bar in downtown Portland tonight. This dynamic duo will be performing a free show that gets underway right around 8 o’clock featuring some swanky jazz and sultry sonic sounds for your Wednesday evening.

Local art punk band, Hi Tiger will be performing a free show at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland tonight. The event will also feature house and techno sets from DJ Lonzo. So throw on some heels and get ready to bust out some of your fiercest moves as tonight’s party gets pumpin’ right around 9 o’clock.

Rap Night at The Asylum in Portland will be showcasing some of New Hampshire’s finest emcees as they welcome Beatooth & OneDurWho, Mike Wing and more to the stage for a night of rhymes and raging. Dax, which features members of Model Airplane, will also be holding it down as Rap Night’s premiere rhythm section for the late edition open mic. The party starts at 9 o’clock, so don’t sleep on some happening hip hop if you’re in downtown Portland this Wednesday.

Lots of fuzzy guitar tones, pulsating drums and straight up rock and roll should be anticipate for this week’s Clash of the Titans upstairs at the Empire in Portland tonight as The Black Keys take on The White Stripes starting at 9:30pm.
