Tackling Another Tuesday

I know it may seem a bit early to some to already be counting down the days, but we are, in fact, one day closer to Friday.  This mere fact makes me incredibly happy, what makes me even happier is the amount of cool things to take in this Tuesday evening in celebration of the fact that we’re one day closer to the freakin’ weekend, babies.  Check it out.

Studio 250 in 250 Read Street in Portland invites punks of all ages to check out the incredible, high-energy show they’ve got lined up tonight. Starting at 6 o’clock check out opening sets from Cruel Hand, DNA and Powerwolves in support of headliners Bane.  Again, this is an all ages event that starts early-ish so get ready for some good mosh pitting and check it out.

If you’re looking to get down to some good tunes this Tuesday evening then mosey on over to the Spring Point Tavern in South Portland where Doubting Gravity will be getting the party started right around 7:30 tonight. Andi Fawcett and the fellas will be brining you the best original pop rock tunes around, so grab a beer and shake your can this evening.

Cover to Cover keeps on rollin’ this week and I tell ya, last week’s Nirvana show really kicked this season into high gear.  Things do not slow down tonight, in fact they heat up with songstress Kristina Kentigian who will be paying respects to Alicia Keys’ debut album Songs In A Minor.  Krisitina is one talented broad who has been doing her thing all around town and she certainly knows how to work her pipes!  Anticipate being completely blown away not only by Kristina’s original tunes, but by the tribute she does to Keys’ work, expressing some fine ass soul, hip-hop and R&B for your earholes. Things get cranking down at The Big Easy in Portland right around 9 tonight.

Another edition of Drop It: Open Decks Night is happening once again at Flask Lounge in Portland.  Starting at 9, you can sign up for a slot DJing on some open tables, all you need to bring are some records, CDs, and a pair of headphones! Tonight DJ Beatmo will provide an opening set of trance and techno.  This event is absolutely free-of-charge and always a good time, so go on and check it out.

Another freebie to check out is over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge as DJ Ponyfarm presents another entertainment-filled evening of karaoke.  That’s right, if you’re looking to belt it out and be your own rockstar, you can do just that starting at 9 o’clock tonight and with absolutely no cover charge.

If you wanna take some time out this Tuesday night and chill out to some experimental jazz that mosey on over to Local 188 on Congress Street this evening where the Jaw Gems will be doing their thing from 10 o’clock until closing time.
