Steiner Street says farewell with one final show at Flask Lounge tonight

I’m going to make the call right now and say that the long, holiday weekend starts now. This Thirsty Thursday is serving up some tasty treats so why not let it have its way and make it a part of the long weekend? Here we go, babies!

Why not get a little jazzy this Thursday down Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland where Hot Club Du Monde bright their stringed gypsy-jazz to life starting right around 8 o’clock. Tonight’s show is free and sure to be swinging to check it out if you’re hanging around the Old Port tonight.

The Virginia-based roots duo, Honey Dewdrops makes a stop at Mayo Street Arts in Portland this evening. The Honey Dewdrops blend Americana and traditional folk together to create songs rooted in real life experience. Sorcha & Jo will get things started with their guitar/cello-based ensemble of tunes right around 8 o’clock.

Vinyl Tap will be getting down once again over at Gritty’s in the Old Port with their decidedly danceable cover tunes that range from everything such as The Beatles, Cee Lo, Huey Lewis, Stevie Wonder and many, many more. There’s never a cover charge and plenty of beer, as it’s Gritty’s after all, so check it out starting at 9.

If you’re down in the Portsmouth area this Thursday evening, you might as well get ready to shake a tail feather at The Thirtsy Moose Taphouse where the Cowboy Dave Band will be teaming up with Computer Beach Party for a night of soul, funk and rock. Things get shakin’ right around 9.

Flask Lounge on Preble Street in Portland is all geared up and ready for a night positively overflowing with pop-punk as the fellas from Steiner Street play their last ever show alongside friends Deep Woods, Borderlines, Gravel, and Pink Sock. Steiner Street will be busting out all of their new and old hits with their original line up for this free show, which gets underway right at 9 o’clock tonight.

Local blues men Samuel James and Dana Gross team up to bring you a night of tunes over at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Starting at 9 these talented dudes will be singing some tunes and plucking some guitar strings to help you thoroughly enjoy your Thursday evening, so check it out.

Take in some stellar jams over at The Big Easy in Portland for another fun night with the one and only Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these dudes jam out on everything from The Dead, The Band, Phish, The Allman Brothers and so much much. On tonight’s agenda: good tunes, good times, good people and maybe even a hula hoop or two. The party starts right around 9:30.

Pop-rockers Kilcollins play their regular Thursday night gig down at RiRa on Commercial Street in Portland. This thirsty Thursday the gents will be rockin’g all the tunes you know and love with some catchy originals mixed in for good measure starting right around 9:30.

Get ‘er doing (WHAT?) to some of the best tunes the 90s ever had to offer from such bands as Sublime, Blink 182, the GinBlossoms, Everclear, No Doubt and even Chumbawumba (yes, Chumbawumba) over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where Hello Newman will be priming the party right around 9:30.

If you need work it out on the dance floor this evening look no further than Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where another installment of DJ Silverchild’s Hang The DJ event busts out the jams starting right around 10. Get ready to work it to songs from The Cure, The Pixies, Morrissey, Bjork, The Offspring and many, many more.
