Spillers, Old Soul, and The Ramparts rock out for a good cause this evening

I’m going to try and keep this weekend’s momentum rolling right on through today so that way this Monday won’t seem so bad. It’s called denial and I’ll let you know how it works out. In the meantime, here are the haps for tonight.

It never hurts to start your week off with some quality rock and roll and when said quality rock and roll also happens to help someone in need, it’s a double whammy/win-win situation. Tonight Spillers, Old Soul, and The Ramparts invite you to come down to Bandaloop in Kennebunkport to have a blast and help raise some money for Anthony Nadeau who was in a very serious moped accident and is in need of financial assistance to get him back on his feet and cover the medical bills he has incurred from the accident. Tonight’s $5 cover will also land you a raffle ticket to be in the running for some pretty sweet prizes, so stop on by have a blast, enjoy some tunes, and do some good starting right around 7 o’clock!

Here in Portland this evening over at RiRa on Commercial Street you’ll find the affable and always entertaining Mr. Evan Walsh hosting yet another edition of his open mic night that gets underway right around 8. EvGuy has instruments available for you to play and even if you can’t actually play an instrument, he’ll help you out by jamming out a version of a song for you to sing along to! Grab some pals, down some liquid courage, and check it out.

Some seasoned veterans of the blues get ready to bring the house down with a CD Release Party at Slates Restaurant in Hallowell. That’s right, the mighty Blues Prophets celebrate their new record, Keep On Jukin! with a set of blazing tunes this evening. These fellas have been playing on stages since 1976 and have even performed with the likes of Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Johnson and more. So if you’re looking to blow those Monday blues away with some actual blues tunes, then I’d suggest making your way to Slates right around 8 o’clock tonight.

My pal, local laugh master, Connor McGrath continues his regularly scheduled evening of entertainment down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland with his own version of Singles Night. Connor will be offering up his services by entertaining the masses with some comedy and music. It’s free, fun and most often times entertainingly awkward, so make sure you stop by this evening and laugh it out with ConnMan and many others. Singles Night starts at 8:30 and will be followed by a 90s Dance Party that’ll feature all of the finest Top 40, dance, and R&B music from the decade that brought us Looney Tunes characters wearing hip hop gear, Seinfeld, and Crystal Pepsi. Again it’s a totally free event and should be a pretty happenin’ time for a Monday night, so do some stretches and get ready to dance, as well as laugh, the night away! (Also it’s ConnMan’s birthday, so buy him a fancy beer.)

Get your can on down to The Big Easy in Portland for another funky Monday at The Players Ball. Tonight you can jam out with The Players Ball’s house band, which features some super talented cats such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more. Each and every Monday night these funky dudes come together to play tunes not only with each another, but also with anyone who shows up with an instrument. It’s a great time full of fun, creativity, and new, musical friends, so check it out starting right around 9!

Geno’s Rock Club helps you put Monday in its place with a night chock full of hard core, metal and melodic punk courtesy of Letter to the Exiles, We the Gathered, and Conveyor. Things get cranked up to about eleven starting right around 9, so stop by and check it out!
