Slab’s Solo Tuesday Night Music Series continues with a free show from Andi Fawcett

Hopefully you were all successful in your quest of putting Monday in its place. If you’re on a roll, then get ready to do it to it once again this Tuesday by checking out all of the plentiful happenings that are going down all around town and beyond tonight!

Get your Tuesday evening started with a free performance from local singer-songwriter Ronda Dale at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port. Ronda will be filling to space with some delightful sounds as this all ages, acoustic performance gets underway at 7 o’clock.


Don’t miss another installment of the Thirsty Pig’s weekly open mic event known as The Exchange. The Exchange is a gathering open to all musicians who are looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their own original material in front of an audience of peers and music lovers alike. All ages, genres and musical abilities are welcome to join in on the fun as Jim Betts and Joel Thetford keep things grooving all evening long. This free party gets started right around 7:30.


One Longfellow Square in Portland welcomes Swedish folk band Väsen to the stage this Tuesday evening. Väsen is comprised of Olov Johansson on nyckelharpa, Mikael Marin on viola and Roger Tallroth on guitar. Johansson and Marin started playing music together when they were teens in the early 80’s. Tallroth’s addition of an improvised jam style to Johansson and Marin’s more traditional duet helped to spawn the birth of drone music. Tonight’s performance gets underway at 8 o’clock.

Heavy Trash, the collaboration of Jon Spencer, who has played his ferocious mash-up of blues and punk sounds as Pussy Galore and The Jon Spencer Blues Experience, and rockabilly slasher guitarist Matt Verta-Ray, will be live on the stage of SPACE Gallery in Portland tonight. The pair com together as Heavy Trash, which is an explosion of American rock n’ roll elements from country to garage rock, submerged in swampy blues and served up with screaming intensity. One man rockabilly band Bloodshot Bill will get things jumping with an opening set as things get swinging right around 8 o’clock.

Don’t miss the Slab Solo Tuesday Night Music Series, which showcases the solo work of tons of talented locals out on the patio, each and every Tuesday night. Starting at 8:30 you can check out this week’s featured performer, Andi Fawcett, as she goes acoustic and solo for an evening filled with lots of awesome pop-rock originals.   


Be sure to check out another evening of music with Choro Louco, Portland’s only Brazilian choro ensemble, as the act takes to the stage of Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Tuesday evening. Choro Louco features local artists Carl Dimow, Nicole Rabata, Joel Eckhaus, Eric Winter, and Kris Day. Tonight’s free show gets underway at 8:30.


Join local folk-pop musician Jacob McCurdy for another open mic at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port this Tuesday evening. Jacob invites any and all musicians to hop up on stage and show off their musical capabilities during this free and super fun event. Things get underway right around 9 o’clock.


Flask Lounge on Spring Street in downtown Portland presents another open mic specifically designed for DJs and producers. Tonight’s event allows up-and-coming record spinners and producers to take a chance up on the decks alongside some the scene’s veteran DJs. All you need to bring to participate are some records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome as things get cranking at tonight’s free party right around 9 o’clock.


If you’re looking to take in an awesome, laid back Tuesday night hand then make you way over to Local 188 on Congress Street in Portland to chill out with the fellas of Jaw Gems. This talented experimental jazz troupe returns for a free night of music starting at 10 o’clock.
