Sing Out for Seeger at One Longfellow Square in Portland tonight

Cheesus Crust, it’s Thursday and I still really haven’t gotten into the actual swing of things this week. It’s a good thing that the weekend is right around the corner because I’m not certain if I could actually pull it together more than a couple of days. It’s been a crazy week full of all kinds of weather, but also all kinds of music, so cheers to that, and let’s do it to it this thirsty Thursday!

The Hive in Kennebunk hosts a fundraiser concert for The Zero Foundation, which encourages, stimulates and promotes charitable and educational agricultural, horticultural and technological research and development to help provide sustainable living for all. Tonight’s event gets started right around 6:30 and will feature performances from local singer-songwriters Ben Carroll and Kurt Myhaver.

Local act Mystic Folk Opera strips down to their duo form this evening for a fun show at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Starting at 7 you can check out some soulful blues-rock from these two talented Maine-made musicians.

One Longfellow Square in Portland celebrates the life and music of Pete Seeger tonight with their Sing Out for Seeger event which will feature various performers in the round playing Pete’s music as well as some of their own originals. Stop by OLS starting at 7 tonight for this free show featuring such local talent as Phil Hoose, Emily Siege, Will Mallett, Andy Happel, members of Tumbling Bones and more.

Tonight at Andy’s Old Port Pub in downtown Portland you can check out local singer-songwriter Heather Pierson as she plays a set of songs starting at 7 tonight. Heather is known as a multi-genre performer covering everything from New Orleans jazz to poignant folk narratives, blues and everything in between. It should be a fun night for a free show, so check it out.

Gingko Blue down in the Old Port is geared up for some stellar sounds courtesy of local act Octane. Octane is a group of musicians brought together by Mike James Hayward to recreate jazz and swing standards through Hayward’s own unique interpretation of the genre. There’s never a cover charge so check things out as the music gets underway right around 8 tonight.

Spice things up and stave off that cabin fever with Primo Cubano upstairs at the Empire in Portland tonight. Starting at 9 you can dance the night away to some of the best classic Cuban music and salsa dancing around.

Kilcollins will be putting the party into your Thursday as they get their pop-rock on all night long down at RiRa in Portland. Beginning at 9 o’clock the fellas will be busting out all sorts of tunes that you know in love alongside some catchy original stuff.

The fellas of North of Nashville will be rocking down at Brian Boru in the Old Port starting right around 9:30 this thirsty Thursday. Jay and Andrew bring their love all of all things country and western to life this evening with a free show upstairs that’s always a ton of fun.

The dudes of Hello Newman are ready to pump out the jams with another free night of tunes upstairs at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Starting at 9:30, these guys will be rockin’ all of your favorite 90s tunes. There’s never a cover, so check it out if you’re feeling a little nostalgic this evening.

Get on down to Gritty’s in Portland to check out the fellas in Vinyl Tap as they cover everything from Huey Lewis, Elton John, The Beatles, Charlie Daniels, Cee Lo Green and many, many more tonight. If you’re looking for a non-stop dance party, then swing through as they start playing at 9:30.

Shake out any of that cabin fever and show the world your best Urkel down at 90s Nite at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge in Portland. Starting at 10, there’ll be a Full House of all the best 90s jams with your favorite pair of Perfect Strangers, DJs Connor and Spencer McGrath.
