Ramblin’ Dan Stevens will be live at Acoustic Artisans in Portland this Thursday evening. Beginning at 8 check out Stevens’ unique style of “bottleneck” slide playing as his mixes traditional blues, Americana and his own original material for a night of terrific tunes.
Up in Bangor tonight you can get down to a free show at Hollywood Slots featuring local country artist Parris Bacon. Parris and his band will be performing his own original pop-country tunes as well as covers from such artists as Elvis Presley, George Jones, George Straight, Alan Jackson, Hank Williams, Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more. Tonight’s show gets underway right around 8 o’clock.
If you’re up in Lewiston tonight and looking to work it out on the dance floor to some of the best drum and bass, and electro dance music around then make your way over to Fusion Lounge where The Grind Syndicate, Elusid, Goodtymes and Moremac will be spinning tunes at this free dance party starting at 8 o’clock.
Every first Thursday at Blue on Congress Street in Portland, local folk artist Max García Conover trades songs with a different songwriter he admires. This Thursday Max will be off getting married, so instead of just one songwriter he admires, there’ll be two. Those two local talents being singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Geoff Zimmerman who’s music has been described as both urban-folk as well as indie-rock and award winning folk singer Paddy Mills. Simone Felice will be playing a special solo show upstairs at Empire in Portland this Thursday. Felice first turned heads in the band The Felice Brothers, who emerged from New York’s Catskill mountain region in 2006 to help kick start the current roots rock revival. Felice, a celebrated songwriter, author, and poet, will be joined on tonight’s bill by Portland’s own Pete Kilpatrick, who will open things up right around 9:30.
Perhaps you’re feeling a bit nostalgic for the days of yore i.e. the 90s and want to bust a move to some tunes from bands such as Sublime, Blink 182, and even Chumbawumba (yup, Chumbawumba), then you should probably head out to Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port where 90s alt-rock cover band Hello Newman will be getting the party started right around 9:30 tonight.
