ShaShaSha and Old Soul team up for an evening of beautiful tunes at St. Lawrence Arts

Live Long and Prosper this Friday.

All right, mothahuggas, I’m pretty sure you don’t need me to tell you what day it is, but just know that it is time to bust out your fanciest Party Pants and get on down this evening. There’s a plethora of badass things to check out, so join me in doing it to it this fine Friday evening. Here we go!

If you’re south of Portland this evening down in the Biddeford/Saco area be sure to swing through The Kerryman Pub for a free show featuring Andi Fawcett and Zach Romanoff. This talented pair will be teaming up for tunes of the acoustic persuasion beginning right around 7.

If you’re up in the Cornish area this evening, bub, be sure to swing by Krista’s where local acoustic duo Uke n’ Smile will be doing their thing. Starting right around 6:30, this duo of talented gentlemen will be playing some acoustic tunes to get your Friday night started right. It’s a free gig, there’s terrific food, and boozy drinks, so check it out if you’re in the area.

Folk rock trio Silent Sam & The Evans will be pleasing earholes this evening as they play a free show starting at 7 o’clock over at Local Sprouts. These guys not only super talented, but super nice as well, so be sure to stop by and check them out as you head out on the town this evening.

The fantastically intricate psychedelic rock act ShaShaSha will be taking the stage of the beautiful St. Lawrence Arts on Munjoy Hill in Portland this evening. These fellas have quickly become one of my favorite local bands as they feature a plethora of talented dudes backing up lead singer-songwriter Dominic Lavoie, formerly of Dominic and The Lucid. Joining in on this fabulous Friday night event will be local experimental folk act Old Soul, who will get things started at 8 o’clock.

Perhaps you’re in the need to thrash it out and bang your head this finally Friday. If that’s the case then I would suggest checking out some metal at Mathew’s on Free Street in Portland where starting at 8 o’clock you can check out sets from MARA, Fates Last Fight and Throttle.

The Mallett Brothers Band brings their fiery, boot stomping country rock mixed with a bit of Americana to the stage of Billy’s Tavern in Thomaston this Friday evening. Anticipate the fellas to play jams from their new album, Land as tonight’s show gets underway right around 8 o’clock.

Down at The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford roots rocker Billy Wylder will be celebrating the release of his latest album Sand & Gold with a Friday night party of epic proportions. Starting things off this evening will be the guitar/cello-based duo of Sorcha and Jo who will get things going right around 8.

The Poprocks are ready to party this Friday night with a rockin’ gig down at the Irish Twins Pub in Lewiston. Starting at 8 o’clock check these fun lovin’ fellas out as they bounce around from decade to decade covering everything from pop, rock, country and everything in between.

A super sized rock show blows through the Dover Brickhouse in Dover, NH tonight as Supermachine celebrates the release of their new self-titled record with one epic party featuring Red Sky Mary, Hey Zeus and Cult 45. Things get kicked into high gear right around 8.

Check out some good eats and tasty tunes tonight down at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook where Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies will be taking over with their own brand of twisted Americana/rockabilly. These fellas are always a boat load of fun and play some seriously awesome songs, so check ‘em out as things get crankin’ around 8:30 tonight.

A triple bill of some of Portland’s finest pop rockers hits The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland this Friday evening. Tonight be sure to get there early so you can check out all of the musical goodness that Hutch Heelan, GinLab and Station Eighty-Five have to offer. The joint starts jumping at around 9 tonight, so check it out.

NH’s indie rock band The Arcane Comedy makes its Portland debut this evening with a show down at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge. Joining the act will be locals Dustin Saucier and the Sad Bastards, Starlight Cicada and Bangor’s Beach The Whale. Good tunes and good times begin at 9 o’clock.

Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland hosts another installment of Foundation Friday. Every second Friday of the month you can join the peeps at Flask for a free dance party featuring the finest underground dance music around. For this month’s edition, special guest Ingy from Boston will be on hand to keep things going strong alongside resident DJ Mr. Dereloid. Things get fresh right around 9.

A night of bluesy, surf rock will be blasting throughout the evening down at Geno’s Rock Club on Congress Street tonight. Be sure to check out Meantone with special guests Thee Icepicks and Antiseptic as the three acts bring the thunder starting at 9 o’clock.

North of Nashville travels north of Portland (holy crap, I am wicked clever) for a night of tunes at Mainely Brews in Waterville. Tonight the fellas get together for some good times and good tunes that incorporate everything from country & western, Americana, to some good ol’ rock n’ roll. Check the duo out as the party gets underway around 9:30 tonight.
