Of course I know that it’s a bit early to already be counting down the days, but we are one day closer to Friday. This simple fact makes me incredibly happy, what makes me even happier is the amount of cool things to take in this Tuesday evening, so check it out.
Cover to Cover welcomes Ryan Augustus and members of Grant Street Orchestra back to the stage of The Big Easy in Portland for a night of classic hip hop as they perform Q-Tip’s 1999 album Amplified. Things get cranking with an opening set from Ronny James followed up by a performance of originals by Ryan Augustus. There’ll be plenty of special guests helping to bring the album to life tonight including Headstart’s Kevin Kennie. The party pops off right around 9.
Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland is all geared up for another round of Drop It: Open Decks Night this Tuesday evening. Starting at 9 you can stop by and sign up for a spot DJing on some open tables. All you’ll need to bring with you are some tunes and headphones. Tonight Marcus Caine will kick things into gear with an opening set of underground house music.
If you’re actually more prone to being your own rockstar rather than a DJ, make your way down to Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in P-Town for a night of feel good 90s karaoke. Starting at 9, DJ Ponyfarm invites one and all to join the free party and belt it out all night long.
You can check out some roots rock for free tonight over at Gritty’s in the Old Port where Travis James Humphrey will be playing a solo set of tunes. Humphrey will be doing his thing from 9 to midnight.
Take in some tasty tuneage courtesy of experimental jazz act, Jaw Gems, down at Local 188 on Congress Street in Portland this evening. Grab some friends and chill out to some awesome sounds and cool vibes starting at 10pm. It’s a free show so stop by and check it out if you’re hanging near the West End tonight.
