Royorbitussin, Starlight Cicada, Eastern Spell and Hessian bring the local rock ruckus to Geno's tonight

We are really doing it to it, my babies! We’ve hurdled the hump and now here we are for another thrilling Thursday. Tonight will not disappointment, so let’s jump right in and see what’s shaking!

Get things going this thirsty Thursday with some funk, soul, and smooth R&B with a party down at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook where Adam and The Waxmen will be delivering smooth sounds to your earholes beginning at 7 o’ clock. There will be tasty drinks, delicious dishes, and no cover, so check it out if you’re hanging tough in The ‘Brook tonight!

Terrifically talented local folk/country singer-songwriter Shanna Underwood will be performing a free set of tunes at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland. Stop by for some good eats, good times, and good tunes, which will get underway right around 8 featuring Shanna and special guests Devon Colella on cello, Greg Bjork on mandolin and Kris Day on bass.

Mama’s Crowbar and Geno’s Rock Club are teaming up for a night full of local music mayhem as they welcome Royorbitussin (best band name ever or best band name ever?), which features members of Gimmie Goldar and Whip Hands, as well as Starlight Cicada, Eastern Spell and the one and only Hessian to the stage of Geno’s. Tonight’s party, which features some of Portland’s most awesome acts, will be hosted by local comedian Travis Curran, who will get things going right around 8 o’clock.

If you’re looking to get down this evening to some fine funk, soul, reggae and more then I would certainly suggest checking out tonight’s show over at Port City Music Hall on Congress Street in Portland. Tonight LA’s Orgone will be bringing the ruckus alongside Portland’s own the Beat Horizon. The Beat Horizon will get you moving and therefore get things started right around 8 tonight.

Take in some stellar jams over at The Big Easy in Portland for another fun night with the one and only Band Beyond Description. Far more than just your typical Grateful Dead cover band, these dudes jam out on everything from The Dead, The Band, Phish, The Allman Brothers and so much much. On tonight’s agenda: good tunes, good times, good people and maybe even a hula hoop or two. The party starts right around 9.

Some straight up rock n’ roll with be ripping through Mathew’s on Free Street in Portland tonight as Manamana, Kamikaze Angel and the Motor Creeps promise to crank things up to at least eleven. The rock starts rollin’ at 9 o’clock.

The super fun fellas of Portland’s own Vinyl Tap will be back at it again tonight as they join forces to play a plethora of songs that are certain to get you to shake your hips. Starting at 9 you can check these cats out as they cover everything from Stevie Wonder to The Beatles, Cee Lo, The Dead, Huey Lewis and many more over at Gritty’s on Free Street in Portland.

Brothers Cody and Clint Phipps will be bringing their acoustic country-rock act, PitchBlack Ribbons, down to The Dover Brickhouse in Dover, NH.  Tonight you can check the fellas out as they play a fee acoustic set beginning at 9 o’clock.

Starting at 9:30 they plan on rockin’ with you with all sorts of tunes that you know in love with a handful of catchy original jams for good measure. It’s free, fun and I would say guaranteed to be a good time, so check it out if you’re downtown this evening.

If what you really, really need to do is work out on the dance floor, then look no further than Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland where another edition of DJ Silverchild’s Hang The DJ event busts out the jams starting right around 10. Get ready to work it to The Cure, The Pixies, Morrissey, Bjork, The Offspring and many, many more.
