Oh man, the day after Old Port Festival is always a rough one. I hope you guys are hanging tough and making it through this Monday. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel and it even offers up good times, good people and good tunes, so keep pushing because we’re gonna make it after all!
I’m not going to give too much away here, but my comedian pal, Connor McGrath is slowly working his way to Andy Kaufman status here in Portland with some of his ridiculous antics – tonight will certainly showcase some of them. Evening Becomes Electric: An On Stage Conversation with Ron Harvey hosted by Cinema 52’s Billy Gray will take place at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland. Starting at 8 o’clock get a peak into the advanced mind of Portland “metal legend” Ron Harvey. A drummer for over 24 years in various bands across Maine, Ron will share his perspective on Coors Light, women and the art of living your dreams. Basically you should just buy a beverage and enjoy the ride because things are going to get weird. Ron’s conversation will be immediately followed by an all out 90s dance party DJed by Spencer McGrath. Tonight’s events are free and again, ridiculous, so stop by and check ‘em out.
No need to feel blue because it’s Monday, instead celebrate the fact that you made it through the day with some bluegrass and pizza down at Otto on Congress Street where Joe Walsh and friends will be providing a mighty fine soundtrack to your evening beginning at 8 o’clock.
I do believe that there are only a few Mondays left for you to get the funk out by and get your can on down to The Big Easy in Portland for The Players Ball. Tonight you can jam out with The Players Ball’s house band, which features some super talented cats such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more. Each and every Monday night these funky dudes come together to play tunes not only with each another, but also with anyone who shows up with an instrument. It’s a great time full of fun, creativity, and new, musical friends, so check it out starting right around 9!
More bluegrass for your Monday happens down at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland as The Brummy Brothers take the stage alongside Matt Meyer & The Gumption Junction for a free show tonight. Anticipate lots of tunes inspired by the people, experiences, and scenery of the American Northeast as things get underway right around 9.
Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies will be taking over The Pier Patio Pub in Old Orchard with their own brand of twisted Americana/rockabilly. These fellas are always a boatload of fun and play some seriously awesome tunes, so check ‘em out as things get crankin’ around 9 o’clock this Monday.
