Rock n' roll all night with Cryptic Overcast, Arcane Lore & Thee Icepicks at Geno's

I know that I might sound like a broken record, but I am so incredibly thankful and overwhelmingly happy that it is Friday. This week really did its best to beat me down, but in the words on Sir Elton, I’m still standing – and entirely ready to hike up my Party Pants and put a hurtin’ on this Friday evening. So, let’s see what’s in store for us, shall we? Here we go!

Sparks The Rescue front man, Alex Roy goes solo and acoustic for an early evening performance at Champions in Biddeford tonight. Starting at 6, check out some of Roy’s pop-rock jams as he plays a free set until 9.

Another Nashville-style Songwriters in the Round will be taking place this evening at the wonderful Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Tonight they welcome three terrific songwriters to the cirle for a set of tunes and tales that’ll get underway right around 6. Anticipate great songs from great people such as Doug Cowan, Sam Anderson and Shanna Underwood at this evening’s free event.

Out at The Landing at Pine Point in Scarborough two hard working, hard-partying local acts join forces for a night of non-stop dancing. If you’re looking to get down to some great tunes then be sure to join The Time Pilots and The Bob Charest Band for this Friday’s party, which gets underway around 7 o’clock.

The kind and talented artist known as Jacob Augustine returns to Portland with a full band this Friday for a one-of-a-kind performance at SPACE Gallery on Congress Street. Starting at 8, settle in for tunes from openers Snowblink of Toronto and the one-woman-multi-instrumentalist, Audrey Ryan who will get things going before a set of emotional, experimental and unparalleled folk songs from the one and only Augustine.

More in the way of good tunes and good people will be happening south of Portland tonight at The Oak and The Ax in Biddeford. Celebrate the release of adventurous folk artist Heather Maloney’s latest album as she plays a show alongside north woods folk rockers Rural Ghosts who will be going acoustic for tonight’s special event. The party starts right around 8 o’clock this Friday evening.

If you find yourself in the Rumford area tonight be sure to swing by Gatch’s for some Americana roots infused with a good amount of rockabilly as Ragged Jack takes to the stage at 8 for a night of partying.

The avant-folk duo known as Arborea will be holding things down up in Lewiston tonight as they play a show at Guthrie’s. This evening’s performance will get underway right around 8pm, so check it out.

Amesbury, MA rock n’ rollers The Brew bring their high-energy indie rock show to life on the stage of The Big Easy in Portland tonight. Grab some friends and get ready to dance the night away to some infectious tunes that’ll get crackin’ right around 9 o’clock.

Mainely Brews in Waterville is gearig up for one helluva night of music as pop-rockers the JT Lockwood Band open up the evening for Rustic Overtones. Rustic will be performing their 1998 album, Rooms by the Hour in its entirety tonight. Rooms is the band’s third studio album that garnered them major label attention and became a definitive fan favorite. Things get started around 9 this evening.

If you’re hanging around town tonight and looking for a taste of some of the scene’s best and brightest hip-hop and electronic music be sure to make your way down to the free show that’ll be happening at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street. Beginning at 9, check out sets from Caro Khan, Micodin, Radio Rahim, and Geoff Zimmerman, who’ll be playing his album Electropathy in its entirety. This is guaranteed to be a great time so stop on by and show some love this Friday night.

Up in Bar Harbor The Thirsty Whale re-opens for the season with some straight up blues rocking courtesy of The Shambles. The party starts at 9 o’clock.

If you’re looking to check out a little Drum & Bass action this evening then mosey on down to Flask Lounge in Portland where The Digital Mercenaries will be delivering sounds that are sure to make you shake your hips all night long.  Tonight’s event starts at 9 and is absolutely free, so check it out!

Brothers Cody and Clint Phipps will be bringing their acoustic country-rock act, Pitch Black Ribbons to Buck’s Naked BBQ up in Freeport tonigt. You can check these fellas out as they play a set beginning at 9 o’clock.
