This week was treacherously long for no apparent reason so it should be no surprise to any of you that I am infinitely overjoyed with the fact that it is finally Friday. Per usual there’s a ton of awesome stuff going down all around our little seaside state so hike up those Party Pants and crank the fun-o-meters up to eleven because things are going to get awesome tonight!
Local singer-songwriter Brian Patricks will be providing the soundtrack to your early Friday evening as he plays a free show starting at 6 o’clock up at the Fireside Inn & Suites in Auburn. Brian will be covering all the hits from yesterday and today as well as sneaking in some catchy originals for y’all. If you’re up in the L/A area, be sure to swing through and check him out.
Jazz virtuosos Brad Terry, Barry Saunders, Will Galison, and Peter Herman will be taking to the stage of the Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath this evening. These fellas will be playing all of the standards you know and love alongside some that perhaps you’ve not heard before. Things get underway at the Chocolate Church right around 7.
High Mountain Hall in Camden is getting into the Halloween spirit with a funky dance party featuring local soul/funk act Sly-Chi. Tonight’s event gets started at 7:30 and money raised throughout the evening will help support the Maine Academy of Modern Music!
The Sorcha Merrill Trio will be filling The Hive in Kennebunk with some soul, rock, country, funk, folk and everything in between this evening. The trio draws on various influences of blues, jazz, country and Latin to create sounds that are sure to make your ears happily buzz. Boston-based songrwriter, Dietrich Strause will kick things off with an opening set of songs right around 8 o’clock.
A double album release party will be happening over at One Longfellow Square in Portland this finally Friday as The Coloradas team up with Girls, Guns & Glory for a night of fun and music. Girls, Guns & Glory will rock you solid with their unique blend of rockin’ country tunes while the Coloradas will woo you with their finely crafted country-blues crooners.
