Happy First Friday of 2014! I hope you all made it through yesterday’s blustery and bitterly cold winter weather and are geared up to warm up at some awesome live shows this evening. There’s a whole slew of cool things happening in town and beyond so pull up some long johns under those Party Pants and get ready to do it to it this evening, here we go!
Local pop-punk heroes Sparks The Rescue play their first local gig of the year up at Club Texas in Auburn this finally Friday. Tonight’s all ages show will kick off right around 6 o’clock and will feature live performances from Newbury, Grayscale, If You Insist, Xander Nelson, and Cheers to Verona. If you’re looking for some high-energy pop-rock action this is where you’ll wanna be this evening.
The second edition of The Union will be happening up at The Next Generation Theater in Brewer this evening. The Union was designed to bring together the best of a wide array of Bangor area artists and musicians. Not only do they share a stage, but the art they create on stage is a collaboration of several types of art working in harmony. There’s no other event quite like it, bringing different talents together with the hope that they will inspire one another’s work. Tonight’s event gets underway at 7 o’clock and will feature live performances from Worried Well, Rotating Taps, and Forget, Forget.
Seacoast act Eric and the Anxiety will be cranking up the amps and stringing together some rollicking rock and roll music at The Stone Church in Newmarket, New Hampshire this Friday. Fellow Seacoast rock band, Shades of Rust, will open up the night with a set of tunes starting right around 8 o’clock.
The Poprocks are ready to party down this Friday night with a free show up at the Irish Twins Pub in Lewiston. Starting at 8 o’clock check out these fun lovin’ fellas as they bounce around from decade to decade covering everything from pop, rock, country and any and everything in between.
Over at The Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street in Portland The Waiters will be serving up some quality tunes for you to ease into the freakin’ weekend with. The Waiters will be dishing out all of your favorite cover tunes starting right around 8.
If you’re south of Portland tonight and in dire need of some high-energy rock n’ roll then make your way down to Saco where Seacoast rock act Red Sky Mary will be blasting off into the rock n’ roll stratosphere at the Kerrymen Pub right 8 o’clock this Friday evening.
There is certain to be plenty of snow up at Sugarloaf this weekend so if you are enjoying this winter wonderland up that way be sure to check out a show from local pop-rock act, the Pete Kilpatrick Band, who’ll be kicking out the jams starting at 9 o’clock over at The Rack.
If you find yourself in the Portsmouth area tonight be sure that you make a stop into The Press Room where Girls, Guns & Glory will rock you solid with their unique rockin’ country tunes. The fellas get things going right around 9.
If you’re looking to spice things up a bit this evening then be sure to head on over to the Empire on Congress Street in Portland where beginning at 9 o’clock you check out some classic Cuban music and salsa dancing with the one and only Primo Cubano.
Fridays are generally a perfect time to shake what your moneymaker so you might as well do just that tonight by getting down to Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland where DJ Jamie O’Sullivan will be hosting his monthly LOVE event. LOVE will feature O’Sullivan bringing you the best house, techno and disco to shake your can to. You can check out this free event starting right around 9.
KGFREEZE frontman, Kyle Gervais will be donning his DJ hat this evening as his spins tunes over at Sonny’s in the Old Port. Starting at 10 o’clock pair a tasty beverage with some tasty tunes as KG plays stuff you love and stuff you didn’t know you loved.
