Portland gives thanks for The Ramones at The Asylum tonight

If you’re looking to shake your stuff to some awesome tunes this Friday, there’s a ton of terrific stuff happening all over tonight! Get outta those sweatpants, into those Party Pants, and work it on out!

Local songstress Stesha Cano and her talented band mates will be performing live at 4Points BBQ & Blues House in Winterport this Friday. Starting at 5 you can check out this free, all ages show that’ll feature Stesha’s original blues and jazz jams.


Well the weather outside was a little frightful a few days ago, but since we’re all currently walking in a Winter Wonderland we might as well get into the holiday spirit and what better way than to check out tonight’s tree lighting in Monument Square? Tonight the bows of this year’s Christmas tree will be lit right around 5 and while you’re there you can hear tunes from KGFREEZE and some very special guests as they bust out some Christmas classics on the patio of One City Center. Bundle up and get ready to rock around a rather large Christmas tree right around dusk this Friday evening.


Maine musician Barry Arvin Young will be playing a variety of easy listening classics from the 70s all the way up through today during tonight’s free show at the Monstweag Roadhouse in Woolwich. Swing through if you’re in the area as things get swinging right around 6.


Local singer-songwriter Lauren Crosby will be bringing her blues infused folk tunes Blue on Congress Street in downtown Portland tonight. If you’re in the area and looking to check out some free, live music, make a stop in as things get underway right around 6 tonight.


The Maine House on Water Street in Hallowell welcomes back local Americana duo Double Entendre to the stage for an acoustic performance that gets underway at 7pm this Friday evening.


Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port welcomes the Swaggering Swingbillies to the stage tonight for an evening of good ol’ country music with members Michael Preston on guitar and vocals and Matthew Baker on vocals, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. Let the good times roll with these talented fellas as things get swinging right around 7 o’clock.


Local country and folk act Oble Varnum will be live at Blue in Portland this Friday evening. The band will be playing a mix of originals and classic country-western standards starting at 8 o’clock during tonight’s free show.


If you’re rocking this Friday up in Rockland (har, har, har, I’m kind of an idiot, apologies) be sure to check out a great evening of original ska, rock, reggae, funk, and punk from Portland’s own El Grande as they play a free show at The Speakeasy starting at 8 o’clock tonight.


The ToneKings are back at it tonight as they mix up some roots and soul tunes for a delightful concoction of musical goodness down at The Frog and Turtle on Main Street in Westbrook. Starting at 8, enjoy some great food and drinks with some great tunes at this free, all ages event.


A thoroughly awesome evening of progressive rock n’ roll will be taking place down at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco this Friday. Starting at 8 check out imaginative tunes from local act Dreadnaught as they tear things up, blow your mind, and melt you face off all night long.


Portland act Vinyl Instinct will be celebrating the release of their brand new record, Rough Trade with a party at One Longfellow Square. Drawing from some of the best classic rock influences, Vinyl Instinct roars out of the starting gate with some compelling sounds that are guaranteed to please. Things get underway at 8 o’clock with an opening set from Clara Junken and her talented band of musicians who’ll be serving up some soulful, blues-infused rock tunes for ya.


Local act Doubting Gravity will be bringing you some of the best original pop rock around as they play a free show at Spring Point Tavern in South Portland tonight. Beginning at 8 o’clock fill up your Friday with some good times, tunes, and people at this ferociously fun dance party.


Guthrie’s in Lewiston will be swinging tonight as The Juke Joint Devils return to the stage this Friday to kick out some old time, hard driving blues tunes. Tonight’s free show gets jumping right around 8.


North of Nashville will be rocking a free show up at Moose Alley in Rangeley this Friday. Starting at 8:30 expect lots of pickin’, guitar slingin’, singin’ and boot stompin’ as Jay and Andrew bring their love all of all things twang and country to life on stage during tonight’s party.


Get ready to noodle the night away and you shake your cranberry jelly belly to Maine’s premier Phish tribute act, Pardon Me, Doug at Port City Music Hall in Portland tonight. Bust out the tie-dye and bring your best hoola hoop as these fellas play all of your favorite Phish jams starting right around 9 o’clock tonight.


I bet there is plenty of snow up at Sugarloaf this weekend so if you are enjoying this winter wonderland be sure to check out a show from local pop-rock act, the Pete Kilpatrick Band, who’ll be kicking out the jams starting at 9 o’clock over at The Rack.


Things get funky at Brian Boru in the Old Port tonight with Shut Down Brown. These fellas promise to keep you dancing all night long with their blends of progressive-rock, funk, and soul. Things pop off at tonight’s free dance party right around 9 o’clock.


Give thanks for the power of rock and roll tonight as The Asylum presents Thank You, Ramones: A Portland, Maine Tribute To The Ramones. Tonight some of New England’s own perform 30 songs from the Godfathers of Punk at this epic RnR party. The band, which features members of The Leftovers, The Connection, Planeside, The Wildhearts, and Paranoid Social Club, will take to the stage right around 9 o’clock and play straight on through each of the 30 selected songs.


Party on this Friday with some of the best alt-rock tunes the 90s ever had to offer with local act Hello Newman as these fellas bust out songs from such bands as Sublime, Blink 182, the GinBlossoms, Everclear, No Doubt and even Chumbawumba (yup, Chumbawumba) at RiRa on Commercial Street in the Old Port starting right around 9 o’clock.


Work off all that turkey (or tofurkey?) by blasting off into the rock and roll stratosphere with some righteous RnR tunes courtesy of Red Sky Mary. This dynamic band of dudes will be blowing doors down at the Press Room in Portsmouth as tonight’s show gets shaking right around 9 o’clock.


Nikki Hunt and her band will be rockin’ the Easy Street Lounge in Hallowell this Friday with their high-energy act that gets underway right around 9.


Get ready for a full on dance party down at Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland this Black Friday as A Dude Named Ray, Mr. Dereloid and Mike Said join forces for a night of house and techno music mixed with live video projections by The Psychologist. Shake what your mama gave ya out on the dance floor starting at 9 o’clock.


Things are going to get both loud and awesome over at Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland with some skull crushing rock and roll courtesy of Swarmlord, Battery Steele, Bedroom Rehab Corporation and The Hopeless Losers. Things get turned up to eleven starting at 9pm this Friday.


Shipyard Brewing and Mainely Brews in Waterville present a post-Turkey Day party as they welcome local funk rockers Rustic Overtones to the stage this Friday evening. If you’re in the area be sure to check things out tonight’s shindig gets shaking right around 10pm.
