Pelican Johnny brings his one-man band to Flask Lounge for some Wednesday night fun

Doing it to it slowly but surely this week as we make our way into Wednesday. There’s a bunch of awesome things to check out tonight to help you hurdle the hump. Here we go!

Lorraine Bohland and Terry Foster team up tonight to infuse your Wednesday chock full of jazz, blues and R&B classics down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in the Old Port. Check out this talented pair of musicians as they provide the soundtrack for your midweek wind down starting right around 6 o’clock. It’s free and there are a ton of fancy drinks to sip upon whilst you treat your ears to some quality sounds, so stop in and check it out.

Local roots/Americana favorites, Dark Hollow Bottling Company will be doing their thing to help celebrate the release of a new Oxbow beer at the Frontier Café in Brunswick. Anticipate exceptionally good tunes paired with some delicious Maine brewed beer that’ll most certainly result in some wicked good times this Wednesday evening. Tonight’s event begins at 7 o’clock.

Local acoustic duo, Uke n’ Smile, will be hosting an open mic night at the Frog & Turtle in Westbrook this evening. Beginning at 8 o’clock all reasonably capable musicians are more than welcome to play some tunes or you can come and sing and the fellas in Uke n’ Smile will play the music for you. It’s free, fun and yummy drinks and food are on hand as well, so if you’re in the area tonight, be sure to stop by and check it out.

More open mic action for your Hump Day takes place over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland. Starting at 8 o’clock you can check out local musicians sing some songs or even sign up to play some tunes of your own. Hosted by local singer-songwriter, Dustin Saucier tonight’s event is absolutely free and will be followed by a showcase set of tunes from local indie act Burlap for Bear. It should be a pretty decent way to work it out this Wednesday, so be sure to check it out.

Tonight Flask Lounge on Spring Street in Portland welcomes Virginia’s Pelican Johnny to the stage where he’ll be bringing his one-man Americana folk-punk act to life with a show that gets underway right around 9. Also playing tonight will be Americana roots rocker Adam13.

It’s going to get rhymetastic (pretty certain that’s a new thing that I just made up, yup…) over at The Big Easy in Portland tonight where another installment of Rap Night goes down starting at 9 o’clock this evening.  Tonight hosts Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra welcome an epic night of BBoy Battles to the stage. Every Wednesday at Rap Night is always a helluva time and wicked cheap, dude; $3 at the door gets your ass in to one epic party.
