Mwaaahahahaaa. Finally the most mischievous evening of the year is upon us! I’m feeling pretty prepared for tonight’s eventual mayhem as I woke up this morning with a bloody nose — metal. Anyway, tons and tons of Halloween haunts to check out this evening so go on and get your creep on, ghosts and ghouls!

Get your All Hallow’s Eve rolling along with some acoustic tunes courtesy of singer-songwriter Bill Howard. Starting at 5 Bill will be playing some Happy Hour music during a free show up at Rooster’s in Augusta.

If you haven’t checked out Portland’s hip new hang, The Bearded Lady’s Jewel Box on Congress Street in Portland, tonight is the perfect time to do so as they celebrate Halloween with a sideshow themed party. Dress up as your favorite circus act and join their freak show as local DJ Gabe FM starts spinning spooky party jams starting at 5 o’clock.

Local musician Barry Arvin Young will be playing a variety of easy listening classics from the 70s up through today during tonight’s free show at the Monstweag Roadhouse in Woolwich. Swing through if you’re in the area tonight as things get swinging right around 6 o’clock.

Forget School of Rock, this Halloween the Maine Academy of Modern Music is shaking things up with their Ghoul of Rock at Bayside Bowl in Portland. MAMM’s rock bands will be melting faces at the creepiest all-ages costume party in town. Get your ghoul on and rock out with these wicked kids as the terror begins at 6 featuring performances by such demented creatures as Metal Sideburns, Yard Sail, Guilty Bystander, Grey Visual, and more.

Open Sky Farm in Sumner will be celebrating the end of prohibition with Bootlegger’s Ball this Halloween. The party starts at 7 with your host Johnny Crashed and the Rednecks and will include performances by Skosh, Lazzlo Family Band, The Grateful Head, Mother Mary Jan and the Green Light District, and more.

Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port will be jumping with the terrific sounds of The ProfTones this Halloween. Starting at 7 check out the act’s great blues, R&B, and rock tunes with a side of jazz at tonight’s free, all-ages show.

Join Blue on Congress Street in Portland this Halloween for their epic Monsta-Bash featuring an entire night filled with all kinds of devilishly good times. Starting at 7 check out some stand-up comedy with members of Portland Comedy Co-op, followed by guilty pleasure cover songs performed by such local artists as Vince Nez, Chris Beth, Matthew Meyer, Colleen Clark, Clara Junken and more, then Last Sip will close out the evening with a set of monster songs. Come in costume and get ready to party til you die! Mwahahaahaa.

This is the first time since I moved to Portland nearly ten years ago that I am able to actually participate in some of the freaky festivities associated with Halloween. Brought to you by Shipyard and Binga’s, tonight’s party will feature $4 shipyard beers as well as a costume contest boasting a $1000 cash prize.
