You guys, it’s Friday! The last Friday of July, in fact, so we better make the most of it while we can because we all know that August is going to fly on by and then it’ll be time for tundra weather, so let’s hike up those party jorts and do it to it, my babies!
Start your Friday off with some Happy Hour festivities down at The Sunset Bar & Grill in Old Orchard Beach where local singer-songwriter Brian Patricks will be playing some tunes beginning at 5 o’clock. Brian will be singing songs from yesterday and today as well as throwing in some pleasing original tunes here and there.
The Crown Vics are taking their rockabilly party to the streets of Ellsworth this evening to celebrate the towns 250th birthday. These cats will be doing it in style as they celebrate properly with some rockin’ and rollin’ that gets underway right around 6.
Those foot stomping, good ol’ boys North of Nashville never, ever slow down and that’s why you can check them out tonight out on the deck of the Portland Lobster Company. The boys will be rockin’, rollin’ and twangin’ outside for free starting right around 7 o’clock.
Beginning at 8 o’clock at The Hive in Kennebunk you can check out some up-tempo rhythm and blues dance tunes courtesy of The Flipsides and Meantone. The newly renovated Hive is ready to see some moves busted out on their expansive dance floor, so shine up your boogie shoes and get on down this evening.
Mathew’s Pub on Free Street in Portland is ready to rock with a handful of local acts tonight. Beginning at 8, you can check out energetic rock n’ roll tunes from The Mad Mulligans, Sonic Paradigm and The Usual Suspects.
Port City Music Hall in Portland is gearing up for an evening of folk/pop fun as Father John Misty takes to the stage tonight. Minneapolis 4-piece Night Moves will kick things off with an opening set right around 8 o’clock.
Enjoy an evening of inventive pop down at the DIY venue on 442 St. Johns Street in Portland tonight where local acts High Spirits and Emily Dix Thomas will be joined by Boston’s own Parasol for a night of music. The show starts at 8 o’clock this evening.
Boston meets the beach tonight as a bunch of bands from Beantown take over The Brunswick in Old Orchard Beach with a night of rock, punk, indie and everything in between. Starting at 8 check out sets from some of Boston’s best bands such as Butchers & Bakers, The Easy Reasons, Muy Cansado, I, Pistol and The Luxury.
If you’re looking for some good times and good laughs this Friday, then go ahead and bust a gut with some of Portland’s most comical people at Local Laughs over at The Asylum in Portland. Tonight get your funny bone tickled by Matt Rickett, Brian Brinegar, Erin Cyr, Paul Hunt, and Lue Avent, as things get started (for free!) right around 8.
If you’re hanging in The ‘Brook tonight you really should take some time to check out some super soul blended with a bit of Americana courtesy of The ToneKings as this super fun local band gets down to it over at The Frog & Turtle on Main Street starting at 8:30.
If you’re in the Bangor area tonight, head over to Paddy Murphy’s where prog-rock band The 220s will be playing. The 220s take their influences from The Beatles to Pink Floyd to Radiohead and create something that is truly all their own, check ‘em out starting at 9 tonight.
The B.A. Canning Band celebrates the release of their new record, Normal Life with a big ol’ party down in Dover at Fury’s Publick House tonight. They’ll be teaming up with Portland’s own Old Soul for a night of experimental, borderline-psychedelic folk that gets underway right around 9 o’clock. Ahh! So much loud, bad ass rock n’ roll is going to be happening at Geno’s on Congress Street in Portland tonight that I my head and heart my explode from sheer unadulterated, musical bliss! Tonight Ogre returns with some help from Big Meat Hammer and my personal favorite, Murcielago. Get ready to have your face melted off by the power of rock starting right around 9 o’clock tonight.
Travis James Humphrey and the Retro Rockets will be packing ‘em in down at Gingko Blue on Fore Street in Portland tonight. Starting at 9, Travis Humphrey leads this blues and swing 3-pack through classics and originals.
