Muddy Ruckus returns to Empire in Portland with special guests Rabbit in the Rye

It’s the return of Thursday, which means that we’ve almost officially made it. Not only that, but Thursdays generally never let us down in the fun department. With a surplus of awesome things to do, you definitely can’t go wrong this Thirsty Thursday; check it out.

Get your Thursday night started with some Happy Hour tunes courtesy of local singer-songwriter Michael Krapovicky as he plays an acoustic set at Rooster’s in Augusta. Michael will be performing some original material as well as some well-known covers during this free and fun event, which gets underway around 5:30.


Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in the Old Port welcomes back the Swaggering Swingbillies for an evening of good ol’ country music with members Michael Preston on guitar and vocals and Matthew Baker on vocals, mandolin, banjo and harmonica. Let the good times roll with these talented fellas as things get swinging right around 7 o’clock.

Local rock n’ roller, Josh Robbins will be joined by his band of merry misfits, The Sump Pumps, for some good times and good tunes at the Liberal Cup in Hallowell. Tonight’s free show gets underway right around 7pm.


The Rhythm Kingz will be rockin’ The Cage in Lewiston for another Blues Night this Thursday evening. Tonight’s free party starts at 7:30 and will feature a full night of awesome, local blues.

The Dogfish Bar & Grille, located on Free Street in downtown Portland, welcomes back local singer-songwriter Isaiah Bennett this evening as he performs a set of his own original acoustic pop and funk songs. Things get started at 8 o’clock.


Austin, TX indie powerhouse Wild Child will be stopping into Portland this evening for a show at One Longfellow Square. These guys are seasoned road warriors who’ve spent the past year performing on tons of stages and festivals. Don’t miss your chance to see them in this beautiful space as they incorporate violin, ukulele, cello, piano, bass, banjo, and horns in ways that few bands do today for a wicked fun sound. Brooklyn trio Pearl and the Beard will also be on hand as they present their songs of joy and sorrow, love and loss via the use of cello, guitars, keyboard, bells, and percussion. Tonight’s show gets started up around 8pm.


Talented, local troubadours, Samuel James and Dana Gross, team up once again this Thursday to bring you an evening full of terrific blues-based folk tunes at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Starting at 9 this dynamic duo will be singing some songs, plucking some guitar strings, and sharing some stories to enhance your evening so be sure to stop in and check things out if you’re kicking around the downtown area tonight.

Local pop-rockers, Kilcollins are back on the stage of RiRa  as they get the party started around 9 o’clock with their party mix of original jams and awesome cover tunes. Tonight’s show is absolutely free so swing through if you’re Thursdaying in the Old Port!


The Dapper Gents are back at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port tonight. Join these fun fellas for some awesome folk-pop and rock originals and covers during this free party that gets underway right around 9:30.

Bramhall on Congress Street in Portland is ready for some more great, local bluegrass as they welcome back the Jerks of Grass for the band’s weekly Thursday night gig. The Jerks will be kicking out some toe-tapping tunes starting right around 9:30pm.


Another terrific show to stop into tonight will be happening at Empire on in downtown Portland as fiery, foot-stomping blues-folk act Muddy Ruckus returns home for a special show alongside New York progressive folk rock trio Rabbit in the Rye. Expect lots of brand new songs from Muddy Ruckus as well as a few surprises as the party gets hopping upstairs around 9:30pm.


Don’t miss the ever-talented Megan Jo Wilson as she performs live in the lounge at Sonny’s in the Old Port this evening alongside a trio of talented fellas (Chas Lester, Adam Frederick and Emmett Harrity). MJ Dubs will make you swoon as she croons some soul, jazz and original numbers starting at 9:30pm.


Vinyl Tap is back at it tonight to play a plethora of songs that are certain to get your Thursday night rocking and rolling. Starting at 10, check out covers of everything from Stevie Wonder to The Beatles, Huey Lewis, Elton John, Charlie Daniels, and more. The party starts at 10 over at Gritty’s on Fore Street in the Old Port.
