Well, well, well, we meet again, Monday, but this time you will not win the battle. I will not arrive home from work this evening completely dejected, instead I will come home, find some sustenance, throw on my trusty Party Pants, and rock this Monday like it’s never been rocked before. If you guys are up to it, you should totally join me in kicking this Monday’s can all the way into Tuesday. Let’s do this thing! Boom!
Local musician James Wholey will be playing the blues down at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland tonight. Starting right around 6:30 you can check out a set of acoustic driven blues tunes. It’s free, fun and a great way to ease your way into another week.
North of Nashville returns from a stint on the road with a lively show downstairs at Empire Dine and Dance in Portland this evening. The duo is ready to celebrate their return home as well as their last Monday night performance at Empire before the venue undergoes renovations and new management. Join the fellas for a boot-stomping good time featuring catchy originals and honky tonk covers that everyone knows and loves. Things get underway around 8 o’clock. The show is completely free and there’ll be whiskey specials to boot – a win-win for your Monday!
My favorite local laugh master, Connor McGrath continues his weekly installment of Sgt. Connor’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’s Singles Night at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street in Portland this evening. Every Monday Connor offers up his entertainment services (that sounds wrong, but you know what I mean!) for all of those lonely hearts out there that need a night of fun that features not only comedy, but music as well. Tonight’s shindig gets underway around 8 and is absolutely free, so swing in and check it out.
Of course Monday means it’s time to get down to The Big Easy on Market Street in Portland for another edition of The Players Ball. Tonight you can get funky and jam out with The Players Ball’s house band, which features some super talented musicians such as Adam Frederick, Max Cantlin, Dan Boyden, Chas Lester and more. Every Monday night these cats get together to play tunes not only with each another, but also with anyone who shows up with an instrument to play. It’s a great time full of fun, creativity and new musical friends, so check it out starting right around 9 o’clock.
