Monday night jazz jam at MJ's Wine Bar in Portland

Happy Monday, babies! I’m not entirely certain that I’ve fully recovered from this weekend’s seemingly endless shenanigans, but I’m going to hike up my Party Pants and full throttle my way on through this Monday. I invite you all to do the same and reward yourself for a job well done by getting out there and busting a move at any or all of these fun shows.

Start off your Monday evening with some open mic action up at Pedro O’Hara’s in Lewiston with local pop-rocker Michael Krapovicky. This free event gets underway at 6:30 and is open to all musicians.

Make the most out of your Monday with some marvelous (free!) music down at MJ’s Wine Bar in Portland. Tonight MJ’s hosts another jazz, funk and soul night that is open to all musicians to sit in and play with the house band, which consists of such talented local musicians as Kyle Friday, Jacob Cooley, Tony Palumbo, and James Finison. These guys are always into welcoming other artists up to play with them, so be sure to stop by and have a listen or even get up and play as things get underway at 7 tonight.

Even more open mic action to check out this Monday down at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco. Starting at 7:30 both solo musicians and full bands are encouraged to take to the stage and do their thing. Tonight’s event is totally free and certain to be a lot of fun, so swing through if you’re in the southern Maine area this evening.

If you’re looking to take in some of the local scene’s best bluegrass this evening head over to Otto on Congress Street in Portland where local picker Joe Walsh will be joined by some of his musically inclined friends for a night of tunes. Grab a slice of ‘za and enjoy some free music as the party starts right around 8 tonight.

Even more open mic action for ya this time in Portland down at RiRa where Evan Walsh will be hosting yet another installment of what he refers to as ‘an adult talent show’. Things get underway around 8 and EvGuy even has some instruments available for you to play. So stop through and get your performance on, party people!

Local singer-songwriter Val Bennett will be performing live at Slates in Hallowell this evening. Bennett has performed both solo and with various acts throughout the New England area and tonight she’ll be joined by a full band to perform originals which range from adult contemporary, jazz, blues, country and rock. Things get started at 8 o’clock.
