Monday has officially kicked my ace, so my apologies for not having much in the way of wit today. I’m just going to dive right into what’s been conjured up to help you blow those Monday blues away, here we go!
Really there’s no need to feel blue because it’s Monday, because instead you can celebrate the fact that you made it through the entire day with some bluegrass and pizza down at Otto on Congress Street. Tonight local picker Joe Walsh and friends will be providing a mighty fine soundtrack to your evening starting right around 8 o’clock.
Mondays also call for a weekly tradition that takes place every week over at Slainte Wine Bar & Lounge on Preble Street as local funny man Connor McGrath hosts a unique and whimsical night of trivia, stories and laughs. There are giveaways for those who participate in the trivia portion of the evening, so grab a friend or play along by yourself, either way it should be a ton of fun that runs right on through the 10 o’clock hour when 90s night kicks in. Connor and his brother DJ Spencer will be spinning all the best jams from the most awkwardly dressed decade ever. Tonight’s even gets underway at 8 o’clock and is absolutely free, so check it out.
Michigan’s Rob Coonrod makes a stop in Portland tonight to play a show down at Flask Lounge on Spring Street. Rob will be offering up tons of tunes full of colorful imagery, soulful vocals and unique guitar riffs. Show starts right around 9, so swing through and check it out.
Oh boy, Monday Fun Day is back and better than ever as the one and only funk and soul express known as Model Airplane returns to the Big Easy for the their regularly scheduled weekly summer gig. Bust out your dancing shoes and get ready to go on an aural adventure with this ridiculously fun band who will get the good times going right around 9 o’clock tonight.
