Micromasse celebrates the release of new record with Jaw Gems & Maine Marimba Ensemble at SPACE tonight

It’s time to bust out your most festive pair of Party Pants and get down on it this evening! I’m ready for Friday, are you? Thought so, LET’S ROLL!

If you’re up in Winterport early this Friday evening be sure to check out a free show at 4Points BBQ & Blues House with local songstress Trisha Mason. Trisha and her band will be serving up some classic covers as well as catchy originals as this free, all-ages show gets shaking right around 5:30.


Shanna Underwood hosts another Songwriters in the Round tonight at Blue on Congress Street in Portland. Beginning at 6 Shanna will be joined by Ronda Dale and Eric McDonald to play some original tunes, tell stories about the songs, and improvise with each other. This show is free and guaranteed to be a great way to kick-start your Friday, so be sure to check it out.


The Crown Vics bring their full-tilt rockabilly show to Skywalker’s Bar & Grille all the way up in Machias. Get ready to rock and roll as things get underway at tonight’s free show starting right around 7pm.


If you’re in Augusta tonight, get things going with folk-rocker Brian Patricks at The Gin Mill as he plays a handful of original tunes as well as classic covers that everyone knows and loves starting at 7:30.


Portland’s own world beat/jazz organ-based trio Micromassé will be celebrating the release of their new EP Because Your Friends with an stellar party at SPACE Gallery in Portland tonight. This dynamic act will be joined by trip-hoppers Jaw Gems who’ll be serving up some soulful psychedelic sounds alongside the Maine Marimba Ensemble, which features 8 friends playing — you guessed it — marimbas! There’ll be a ton of special guests as well as unique collaborations, so don’t miss out as the music starts at 8 o’clock.


Local duo October Road will be performing at Elements on Main Street in Biddeford this Friday evening. Starting at 8 check out the duo’s set of Americana and folk rock tunes at this free, all-ages show.

Local country act Cheyenne will be playing some classic tunes up at the Silver Spur in Mechanic Falls this Friday. Get your boot scootin’ boogie on as things get started at 8 o’clock.


Local pop-rockers Tomorrow Morning will be playing at The Speakeasy in Rockland tonight. This free show gets started at 8 and features the band’s funky mix of cover tunes and original material.


Doubting Gravity will be bringing you some of the best original pop-rock around as they play a free show at Spring Point Tavern in South Portland. Beginning at 8 fill up your Friday night with some good times, tunes, and people at this ferociously fun dance party.


If you’re up in Hallowell tonight check out the musical antics of local 4-piece act Smoked Salmon as they bring their eclectic range of sounds to the stage of the Easy Street Lounge. There’ll be lots of tunes in the vein of Phish, The Dead, The Band, Dylan, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bowie and more as things get underway right round 9.


Barn-burning rock n’ rollers Whale Oil will join veteran pop rocker Spencer Albee — whose latest album just got a nod in Rolling Stone by the way — for a night of fun down at the Press Room in Portsmouth tonight. The fellas will let the good times roll as they hit the stage around 9 o’clock.


North of Portland, at Chummies in Ellsworth welcomes back The Blast Addicts to help them get the party started this Friday with some straight up rock and roll jams. Things get underway right around 9 o’clock at this free event.


Get down to some Drum & Bass action tonight over at Flask Lounge in Portland as The Digital Mercenaries along with Miztah Lex, Sketch Rokk, Elusid and Marshall Law serve up some sounds that certain to make you shake your groove thing. Tonight’s free rager gets underway at 9 o’clock.


If you’re hitting the slopes this weekend and find yourself up at Sugarloaf, make sure you check out a righteous rock n’ roll party happening at The Rack with local act Tilden Katz. The fellas will get the good times rolling right along beginning at 9 o’clock.


A couple of great musical events to check out tonight over at Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port. Downstairs take in the folk pop-rock stylings of local singer-songwriter Jacob McCurdy and upstairs party down with local pop-rockers Kilcollins. Lots of good times to be had all over the place as things get underway at 9:30.


Sam Shain and The Scolded Dogs return to Brian Boru in the Old Port with their instant party mix of original jams and classic covers that include such artists as Johnny Cash, Snoop, Parliament and more. Bust out your Party Pants and have some fun as tonight’s free event gets swinging right around 9:30.


Don’t miss out on the Hip-Hop Holiday Extravaganza of the year as the 2nd Annual Flannabis Ball returns to Empire on Congress Street in Portland tonight.  Local rapper Wisdom will take to the stage with a ton of special guests to celebrate all things flannel, hip-hop and “hemp”. (Hahaha those quotations are killin’ me, anyway…) Starting at 9:30 check out performances from not only Wisdom, but also Northern Lights Nation, eyenine, ill by instinct, Tha Capital G, DJ KTF and El Shupacabra. This should be a pretty epic party chock full of good vibes, so be sure to swing through and check it out.


Adam Agati, Nicholas Falk, Stu Mahan and some special guests will be bringing their 3rd Annual Holiday Shindig to Local 188 in Portland tonight. Starting at 10 check out these talented folks as they perform some no-holds-barred improvisational music all evening long.


A great night of local Americana and folk tunes that include just a dash of pop-rock will be happening down at Blue on Congress Street in Portland as they welcome back Gunther Brown to the stage for a free show that gets started up at 10 o’clock.
