Mastodon, Gojira & Kvelertak bring the thunder to the State Theatre tonight

Written by: Holly Nunan

I know that it may seem a little bit early to already be counting down the days until Friday, but we are, in fact, one day closer to the freakin’ weekend! This makes me happy. It makes me even happier that there are a bunch of cool things to take in this Tuesday evening, so check it out.

If you’re planning on checking out tonight’s Mastodon show at The State Theatre in Portland, you should probably get your heavy metal pregame on with an awesome event right down the street at Empire. Starting at 5, enjoy some Bissell Brothers Beer specials, free swag from 207 Brand, and a very special heavy metal playlist curated by Sean Libby of local heavy-hitting acts Sylvia and Johnny Cremains. Get pumped for Mastodon alongside some fellow metal heads during this free shindig.

Empire’s preshow rager ends around 7, which allows you plenty of time to walk the few paces up The Congo to The State Theatre to make it in time for this Tuesday’s metal mayhem extravaganza. Things get underway at 7:30 with opening sets from strident French act Gojira and Norwegian heavy hitters, Kvelertak followed by headliners, Mastodon who promise to deliver many righteous riffs, dynamic vocal harmonies and just the appropriate amount of sludgy swagger. Tickets are still available, so make some moves to have your face properly melted this Tuesday.
