Live & Local continues at One Longfellow Square with KGFREEZE & Whale Oil

It’s time to take on Tuesday by hiking up those Party Pants and getting to it this evening! We made it through Monday unscathed so why not celebrate this achievement with some good tunes and good times? Here are some places to get the party started tonight!

Fast Breaks in Lewiston welcomes local singer-songwriter Ron Bergeron to the stage for a full night of music. Ron will be serving up tons of great songs starting at 6:30 including covers of The Beatles, Stones, Queen, Elvis, The Boss, Tom Petty, Paul Simon and maybe even a little Lady Gaga. If you’re in the area be sure to stop by and check out some good times and good tunes during this free show.


Blue on Congress Street in Portland welcomes a trio of talented local singer-songwriters to the stage for an evening of acoustic performances in their unique and intimate setting. Beginning at 7 Calen Perkins, Carleigh Nesbit and Jay Basiner will be sharing both songs and stories during this free, all-ages songwriters in the round event.


Slab on Preble Street in downtown Portland continues with its free Tuesday night music series as they welcome local act Muddy Ruckus to perform a set of their foot-stomping, bluesy Americana jams during tonight’s free, all-ages shindig. Swing through starting at 7 to enjoy some mighty fine tunes and tasty Sicilian-style pizza.


Frontier in Brunswick presents the 17th installment of its Frontiers of Music event featuring improvised duo performances from local artists such as Peter McLaughlin, Chris Cathode, Joshua DeScherer, Lee Todd Lacks and Tom Swafford. The show starts a 7 o’clock and admission is name your own price, so stop by and check things out if you’re in the area this Tuesday evening.

The Thirsty Pig in the Old Port is back at it tonight with another edition of its weekly open mic event known as The Exchange. This evening’s gathering is open to any and all musicians looking to collaborate, showcase, and workshop their own original material in front of an audience of peers and music lovers alike. Your hosts with the most, Jim Betts and Joel Thetford, perform some tunes as well as encourage individuals of all ages, genres and musical abilities to join in the creative fun as things get kicking right around 7:30.


Whoever said that Tuesdays were too early in the week to throw down at a party were obviously unaware of the awesome weekly music series known as Live & Local that’s presented each and every Tuesday by Portland’s One Longfellow Square. Tonight get ready to shake it out with rock-pop-R&B electro-freak out act, KGFREEZE and rock n’ roll power trio, Whale Oil as the two local bands bring the thunder to the OLS stage with a whole gamut of entertaining sounds for your earholes starting right around 9 o’clock.

Local musician Jacob McCurdy returns to Bull Feeney’s in the Old Port to host another free and fun open mic night. Starting at 9, join Jacob as he emcees and performs during tonight’s event which encourages all artists to get stage and showcase their musical talents.

Flask Lounge in Portland presents another open mic that is specifically tailored to DJs and producers. This free dance party gets started at 9 and focuses on encouraging up-and-coming producers and DJs to take a chance on the decks. All you need to participate are some records, CDs and controller. All formats of music are welcome, so check it out if you’re hanging around downtown tonight!

Starting at 10 check out some experimental jazz jams at Local 188 with Portland’s own Jaw Gems as the fellas vibe out during tonight’s free show.


Local roots rocker Travis James Humphrey will be playing a free set at Gritty’s on Fore Street in the Old Port. Beginning at 10, Travis will be plucking some strings and singing some things that are certain to get your Tuesday night swinging.
