Lady Essence releases a new record with a little help from her friends at The Asylum tonight

Looking to work it on out with some live, local music this Wednesday? Well, I’ve got you covered! Here are the happenings for your Mid-Week Party!

Local musician Scott Lank will be playing out at the Porthole on Commercial Street in Portland this Wednesday evening. Starting at 6pm stop by to enjoy this free, all ages show featuring Lank’s performances of familiar classic rock and country from the 60s and 70s, as well a little bit of bluegrass, ballads and uptempo rockers. 


Local rock n’ roller, Josh Robbins will be joined by his band of merry misfits, The Sump Pumps, for some good times and good tunes out on the Portland Lobster Company deck. Tonight’s free show gets underway right around 6 o’clock, so swing on by if you’re having some fun out in the Old Port this Wednesday.


Adult-contemporary folk rocker Don Campbell will be playing a show over at Easy Day in South Portland this Wednesday evening. Enjoy some great tunes as this free event gets underway at 6 o’clock tonight. 


Gather in Yarmouth continues with its Acoustic Wednesdays music series this evening as they welcome Portland-based, alt-Americana artist Jenny Jumpstart to perform during a free dinner-time set that gets underway at 6 o’clock. 


Juno Award winners, The Wailin’ Jennies bring their heart-stopping harmonies back to Prescott Park in Portsmouth this evening. These Canadian country folk treasures will be performing out in the park starting at 7 o’clock this Wednesday. 


Legendary pianist Tom Snow has been one of the anchors of the jazz and folk scene here in New England. He has toured with numerous artists across many styles and tonight he’ll be joined by legendary folk singer Jonathan Edwards as well as Joe Walsh, Grant Gordy and Ben Somers for a special performance at Portland’s One Longfellow Square. Tonight’s special event will get underway right around 8 o’clock. 


Pete Witham & The Cozmik Zombies will be taking over Unity College up in Unity this evening with their own brand of twisted Americana and rockabilly tunes. These fellas always know how to have a good time so make some plans to check ‘em out as things get crankin’ around 7:30 tonight. 


Bull Feeney’s on Fore Street in the Old Port welcomes back the Squid Jiggers to the stage tonight as the pair plays their own brand of folk-infused drinking tunes starting at 8. There’s never, ever a cover charge and also never, ever a shortage of cold drinks, so make some moves and check ‘em out this Wednesday evening. 


Local act, The Larks are prepared to tear things up tonight by bringing their unique brand of country, disco, new wave and punk (basically a little bit of something for everyone) to the stage of the Watermark Restaurant in Northeast Harbor. Fun for the whole family starts right around 8 o’clock this Wednesday evening.


Check out the down home, acoustic roots tunes of David Beam and the Custom House Gang at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial Street in Portland this Wednesday. The lively bunch will be playing some great music for your midweek wind down so swing through and enjoy this free show starting at 8pm. 


Rap Night at The Asylum is going to be slammin’ this Wednesday as they celebrate the release of Lady Essence’s new record, The Root of It. Tonight’s events will feature performances from Lady Essence alongside Renee Spookydawn Coolbrith and Kristina Kenitigian as well as Shane Reis, Don Santos and more. There will also be early and late open mic cyphers with Ill By Instinct and El Shupacabra and ladies get in free! Dudes, it’s only $3 for you to get in on this quality hip-hop happening, so show up and enjoy some talented cats as they do their thing starting at 9 o’clock.
